For over half a century, the National Weather Service has operated 24/7. But after the U.S. Department of Government Efficiency pushed to shrink the federal workforce, that’s no longer possible in parts of the country.

OUR FINANCIAL IMPLOSION CONTINUES
#Moody’s has downgraded the United States’ debt, stripping the country of its last perfect #credit rating. The move could rattle financial markets next week and push up interest rates.

Moody’s held a perfect credit rating for the United States -- AAA -- since 1917.

The house parliamentarian can supposedly remove any parts that 'make policy changes' and are not specifically budgetary. Can someone please explain how that would actually work?
-A 10-year ban on state AI regulations
-A "nonprofit killer" clause that would stifle dissent
-Selling off public lands to Big Oil

It's not just healthcare/food assistance cuts for the poor and tax breaks for the rich in the GOP's "big, beautiful bill."

It's much worse.

Many American voters are likely to excessively overcorrect from 2024-2025 to look for honest, authentic, effective, consistent communicators who don’t rely on slogans and platitudes in 2026-28. They aren’t plentiful.

The GOP’s “big beautiful bill” includes a clause giving Donald Trump the ability to revoke the tax-exempt status of any group the Treasury Department says is a terrorism supporter.

The bill is in the reconciliation process, meaning it only requires a simple majority in the House and Senate to pass.
Republicans Slip Nonprofit Killer Bill Into Budget Plan
The “nonprofit killer bill” is hidden at the very end of Republicans’ massive 389-page budget package.

Kash Patel’s disastrous back-to-back performances on Capitol Hill should have Trump rethinking his choice of FBI director.

Every book published in the United States is sent to the Library of Congress. Also, if you are under 16 you cannot use the reading room or order books.
Reporter: The president fired the Librarian of Congress. Why?

Leavitt: There were quite concerning things she had done at the Library of Congress in the pursuit of DEI and putting inappropriate books in the library for children.

Not only are they ignoring climate change—they’re trying to cover up the cost. Shutting down NOAA’s disaster tracking so we can’t see the BILLIONS it’s costing us? This ain’t solving the crisis—it’s hiding it.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration said it will no longer track the cost of weather disasters, including floods, heat waves, wildfires and more

And magas were worried there was a chip in the Covid vaccine.
There should be bipartisan concern about the reports that DOGE is merging HHS, Social Security, and IRS data into one database.

That is the trifecta of personal information, and any competent person (or machine) could essentially put together a complete profile of your life.

The plan is to break the parks, claim they must be privatized, take them from the American people and give them to their friends.
Update: the Trump administration has proposed cutting the National Park System by $900 million, about one third of its budget.
Please read/share if you love your national parks!
New from @pamherd.bsky.social & me: A DOGEr is now running the National Park Service.

They were already short of employees to manage record crowds. DOGE has cut 13% and wants to cut 30%.
