Ok. Usually i’m very quiet on SM, but (cough, cough)…

I’ve just deleted that horrible app formerly known as Twitter.

So, I'm really kind of fucking annoyed and disappointed with Mozilla enabling AI in Firefox by default and not giving users a simple opt out switch.

I have disabled it in my firefox via 'about:config' , if you want to too, here's how to disable it completely or enable certain bits you find useful

Are you looking for clean user experience in your Firefox browser? Here's how you can disable AI features in Firefox for a simple, no-nonsense usage.

You can even turn on a reminder by going into Settings > Accessibility and then toggling on ‘Require alt-text before posting’.

Then you won’t forget to include it.
I'm seeing a lot of political posts with images & no alt-text. A reminder: alt-text makes your post accessible to blind & low-vision users, & as disabled people are some of those most regularly & viciously targeted by this administration, they deserve & need to be included & informed in activism.

Tesla continues to prove that they are not a serious company. Giving him that much money after basically lighting the company on fire for the last two years is beyond ridiculous. Tesla isn't a car company or an AI company or a tech company any more. It's a meme coin disguised as a stock.

i’ve already seen people report that these upscaling attempts on videos have resulted in flashing boxes & flickering that may cause issues for people with photosensitivity & Youtube refuses to make a statement on it.
Youtube has announced that all low-res videos (i.e. older ones) are to be automatically AI upscaled to HD.
Creators can opt-out on a per video basis (but the channel may be long abandoned).

When researching props or behind the scenes, old videos are useful, but not if upscaling produces artefacts.

A wonderful initiative by the Archaeological Park of Pompeii inviting visitors to visit a few houses by night. It’s an incredibly evocative experience as from the depths of darkness, light glows from rooms as if someone is at home.

The thing about living in a human society is you either decide that everyone (except those for whom it would be medically dangerous) has to take VACCINES into their bodies or everyone (with no exceptions at all) has to take VIRULENT PATHOGENS in from those around them and, look, the first is better.
