TLDR for my last post:

I AM A PLUMBER NOW!

Insomnia! Brought to you by forgetting to take my night time meds!

It's actually kinda wild how not tired I am. It's 345am. I should be at least a little sleepy. But nope! Just sitting here, knowing it's way too late to take my meds, and too early for morning meds.

I live a fun life these days. 🤣

This video is amazing and you must watch! Unless you don't like slugs and slime molds, in which case, give it a big ole skipperoonie.

Hubby brought home an illness from out of town. I would like him to take it back, please and thank you.

Hoping it's not COVID, but wouldn't be surprised. Too tired to take a test. Whee.

The New World Screwworm, is a nightmare of a fly and it seems to be making a comeback in the places it was previously eradicated - Central and North America. What exactly this fly does, why it’s such a problem, and how we came to defeat it (temporarily) all feature in this week’s episode.

am reminded of the old joke: what did James Watson discover?

Rosalind Franklin’s notes.

Woke up at 3pm today.

It's going to take me *days* to walk my morning med time back from mid-afternoon to where it should be.

Whee. Guess I know what I am doing this weekend. Good thing hubby is out of town. I'm going to be a messy mess.

James Watson, academic thief and monumental but incredibly thin-skinned bigot has apparently died.

I didn't realize that he was still alive. Nobody else did either, since he was such a monumental jerk that nobody wanted anything to do with him anymore.

I want to post things on here, but I have nothing to say.

Oh, except that Highway Thru Hell is my new favourite TV show, and my current favourite hobby is reading studies about treatment resistant depression.

I've been off work for a year now.

An entire year.

"What time is it? Showtime!"

And thus my internal echolalia tells me it's time to take Tino for a walk.

If I knew why my brain associates Hamilton with walking my dog, I'd be a rich man. I'll have this one line on repeat in my head until I put his harness on.

Then comes the inner peace. ❤️

I chose the last possible minute to resume my online mycology class (I have to have it done by Dec 31) but I am happy to report that my brain still works somewhat.

I should be on track to finish the course if I stick to my new schedule. Here's hoping the brain weasels let me do this.

I love being up to date on my vaccines, but I really hate that I am one of those special folks who gets a fever and all that jazz for a day after my COVID vaccine.

Weirdly, I am still having a good day. Not looking this gift horse in any of its holes!

Miracle:

Off the ferry at 11:45am.
Pharmacy at 11:55.
Vaccines administered 11:56.

Made it back to ferry terminal at 11:59 (1 min before ticket sales end).

I got a ticket, hustled my ass to waiting room A, and was the last foot passenger on the 12:10 ferry.

This will never happen again haha.

Justin McElroy for MAYOR!

You've got my vote, sir!
running for mayor of translink (a real position) to make this a felony

and if "the courts" tell me that's illegal, i will go on all of the buses (which, as mayor of translink, i now own) with a megaphone and shout at people doing this

this is a shitpost but also i could get elected on this
Nothing is more indicative of why I don’t have any faith in society, nor that people are generally in any way aware of the impact of their actions on others, than people listening to things on their phone on public transit WITHOUT HEADPHONES.

I finally got my vaccine email two days ago.

I immediately went to book an appointment and there were none available on any date on the Sunshine Coast.

And so... I am heading to Horseshoe Bay now to get my vaccines. Just a wee ferry ride between me and my appointment. 🤣

So worth the trip.

Valentino and I went on a good long hike this morning.

The plumber came! And it turns out I really am a plumber, too, as I had successfully diagnosed the issue. :D

We are a two toilet household again! YAY!

Today:

- wore the wrong pants in a rainstorm (sigh)
- got to my bus stop 25 mins early in a rainstorm
- umbrella broke in wind
- turned around and went home instead of to my blood work appointment
- got home, dried off, settled into my chair, and noticed someone was CALLING me, how rude:

Finished Oceania and Africa in Skycards! Now I just need Ukraine to sweep the entire world.

Which, like, brings me right back to why Ukraine is impossible to catch right now. War. Closed airspace because people are killing each other on the ground below.

No final cheerful thought. Just that.

We have decided that we are cold weather camping people.

Just booked a site in Porteau Cove in January for 3 nights.

For non-locals: this is a campground that is at water level, right on the beach, on the shores of Howe Sound. It will be windy and COLD AF.
