New — I wrote about ChongLy Scott Thao, the elderly Hmong American wrongly arrested and forced out of his home by ICE in his underwear during the punishing Minnesota winter, what witnesses saw, and DHS's racist claim that he fit the description of another Asian man they were looking for.

My story:
Behind the disturbing image of ICE snatching a half-naked, elderly Hmong American from his home
DHS has claimed without evidence that they were looking for someone else when they took ChongLy Scott Thao.

The last several weeks have been a shitshow in my personal life.

I created a new term with my therapist called 'half Hamill,' where I'm really close to Joker-like laughter and losing my shit.

Based on additional sucky news BS today, I spent time creating the Hamill Meter.

Enjoy!

Great explainer of #DoubleEmpathy theory for those #mentalhealth professionals (like me) who learnt Theory of Mind in Psychology 101 in the 1990s.

Would be interesting to know what they’re teaching undergraduates these days…

There is a profound irony in bigots getting upset about Queer people participating in… musical theatre.
So apparently Dylan Mulvaney got cast in a Broadway musical... which resulted in transphobes losing their minds and threatening to "Bud Light" the show... and now the show's Twitter page is locked down. Cool cool.

Brianna Ghey was targeted by classmates who knew her offline. Online, she made friends and a community, and was making content to help other trans kids like her.

This is a grieving mother pushing for legislation that would have further isolated her trans child, that is supported by transphobes.

I love recommendations in this column on how to build a radically truthful news outlet. The truth is, ethical journalists are required to resist passing along lies and obfuscations, even when lots of people believe them. ESPECIALLY when lots of people believe them. READ: https://loom.ly/rF9t36k

I’m the one in the brown hat.

What you might not see is the victim in the car. His feet are pointing out the open car door. An agent is sitting on one of his legs. He’s only wearing crocs.

Bystanders found his legal work visa in his abandoned car.

This is what happened in our neighborhood yesterday. ICE snatched a human being off of our streets, roughed them up badly, and then pepper sprayed legal observers as they documented it all. This is a daily occurrence happening all throughout Minnesota right now.

I don't talk much about being trans here. Frankly, it's difficult right now. Between the government, JKR, and Upper Deck, I don't feel very safe.

“In the first paragraph is a supposed letter that doesn’t exist in the Latin alphabet.” Just tuning in to the story of Tara Knight and the hoax FBI letter and hoooooo boy, this is perhaps the most dangerous hoax to endanger a marginalized community since Jussie Smollett
This is one of the most irresponsible things I've seen someone in the trans community do. Absolutely disgusting that Tara Knight faked claims about getting a letter from the FBI and then forged a letter with AI when journalists tried to verify.

theneedlenews.com/alleged-fbi-...
Rumors of FBI letters threatening trans public figures center on an AI-generated document
It is not impossible for the FBI to do what has been claimed. It is still irresponsible to spread panic among marginalized people through rumors without evidence.
