Probably an unpopular opinion but “don’t type death threats even jokingly, yes that means you” seems to be one of the few real Bluesky rules and not something I personally struggle with.

Tonight was the most spectacular aurora I have ever seen. I was able to see reds and greens, clearly, even through streetlights. And I found a spot less than 10 minutes from my new place where I can get shots like this.

Update:
Because Holman airfield has international flights they must have a customs office.
The building project reported by the city is a replacement of an existing customs office.
I have seen no indication that this project is anything other than a replacement for a very old facility.
I reached out to federal delegation to get some answers on this project. It’s a surprise and a very unwelcome one.

No home for ICE and CBP in Saint Paul.
From a St Paul Dept of Safety and Inspections email: construction permit for a new $11m CBP building construction permit at 670 Bayfield Street next to the downtown StP airport. Note location right near the runways. "Great" place to deport from! @mollycoleman.bsky.social @melvincarter.bsky.social

On my trip to the Upper Peninsula this summer I decided to give myself a fun challenge- how many lighthouses could I photograph in 12 days? The answer- 36! Plus a few bonus ones. So here's a gigantic thread of every lighthouse I saw, sorted by type. Up first is Eagle Harbor Light Station. (1/44)

On this eve of fifty Novembers
the winds still howl
the bell still tolls.

My breath turns heavy
as we drift into the long cold night.
The Fitzgerald stirs beneath.

I harbor their echoes
and cradle her steel.

My waves bear the sorrow
of all I have taken.

Can we jump people who don't put links with screenshots? Can we not "Just trust me bro" on a screenshot of a quote about something that could kill us? I don't care if it's paywalled, just provide the link.

Sit on a barstool along Lake Superior in November, and you might well hear Gordon Lightfoot’s ballad written soon after the ship sank.

When someone calls the sinking of the 𝘌𝘥𝘮𝘶𝘯𝘥 𝘍𝘪𝘵𝘻𝘨𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘭𝘥 "the greatest maritime mystery of the Great Lakes", and you have to stop yourself from well actually-ing them. It's not even in the top 5, even on just Superior! The wreck was found 4 days later!
