Are the Labour Government finally going to bring in rent controls?

I seem to be living rent free in their heads!

The 50 wealthiest families own more wealth than the bottom 50% of the population.

How can this Labour Government say this is a "cost of living" budget and refuse to tax the rich?

They care about protecting power and wealth. And cost of living is a buzz phrase for them. Dire.

Remember: There is nothing natural or inevitable about extreme inequality; it’s the result of an economic system that values wealth and power over human dignity and justice.

It doesn't have to be this way.

This is great to see.

Phillips is completely snookered by @zackpolanski.bsky.social by knowing his history and explaining it clearly and concisely and in enough detail to snuff out Phillips' attempted Culture War attack.

It's a fact that healthcare associated infections aren’t rare. They’re systemic. When underreported, we don’t just miss data, we miss warning signs. Every outbreak ignored is a life endangered. Transparency isn’t optional. It’s the backbone of public health.

Since we delivered free bus travel for those under the age of 22, over 250 million free journeys have been taken.

That's congestion off ours streets, pollution out our air, and money back in people's pockets.

That's a resounding success we can build on.

A real post from the Labour Party Facebook page.

The replies are all people going "didn't you say 'island of strangers'?" or "you hate our flag". So it's still going fantastically well for the party of Change.

We can do that by bringing people together behind the causes we champion.

Causes that make working peoples lives better; like a 4-day working week, better paternity pay and free public transport.

The murder and stabbing of Dr Fortune Gomo which took place on Saturday, which was potentially racially and politically fuelled was abhorrent. She was a valued environmentalist and scientist, who was working towards environmental solutions, and only 39. May she rest in peace.

Pretty certain it would be closer to £250bn to build a 163 mile 24 carat gold railway.
How can it cost over £80bn to build a 163-mile railway track between London and Manchester? Are they using solid platinum tracks connected by diamond-encrusted 24-carat gold sleepers or is there a drink in it for rip-off merchant subcontractors?
