China getting data on Americans is a bad reason to ban TikTok. China gets data regardless.
A better argument is, in the event of war over Taiwan, the US doesn’t want a Chinese propaganda pipeline to millions of Americans.
Similar to how the US wouldn’t let an adversarial foreign govt take over CBS.

There are good reasons to ban Chinese ownership of TikTok but access to sensitive private data is low on the list. Data brokers have much more information about us than TikTok and it's easily accessible to anyone.*
