Money that's already been awarded to build more bike and trail projects here in Washington is at risk of being yanked away for ridiculous reasons. Take the @bikeleague.org action today to keep this funding where it belongs!

We think it's a problem when we're NOT making massive investments in bike infrastructure at the federal level.

Let Sec. Duffy know what you think by Aug 20 at the @bikeleague.org action alert below!

What Will It Take To Give Victims and Advocates a Voice at US DOT?

A new bill would put a dedicated "roadway safety advocate" in the halls of US DOT - and you can support it right now.

I support passage of this bill for those affected now do not have a voice.

Bremerton's the latest WA city to remove parking minimums!
Why it's good for biking (hang with me here):

No minimums ✔️ flexibility in building parking ✔️ fewer large, expensive lots ✔️ more room for housing, shops, etc ✔️ destinations closer together ✔️ less driving, more biking and walking 👍
Very good chance that - tomorrow - Bremerton, WA will vote to eliminate all minimum parking regulations, citywide. If it happens, we'll be the 6th city in WA to do so.

Market Based Parking, we're calling it.
Bremerton City Council study session last night: there were definitely 4 (of seven, a majority) strong voices in favor of eliminating parking minimums, citywide!

Spirited debate, the vote won't be unanimous (like it was in the planning commission).

Final vote next Wednesday!

An underrated win in the state transportation budget: funding for e-bike lending libraries.

Can't afford or not sure if you want to spring for your own e-bike? Rent one from a bike shop or local library. We're ready to see this go live in WA!

Can’t Afford an Ebike? Borrow One for Free From a Lending Library
Programs that let people borrow an ebike for a few days at a time are blooming around the US. They’re convenient for all, but they also provide free transport for those priced out of bike ownership.

WA suffered 731 traffic Fatalities in 2024, down slightly from 2023, according to new data from the WA Traffic Safety Commission. But fatalities remain much higher than the the 2015-2020 baseline.

Thanks to everyone who spoke up against the e-bike tax, it's no longer included in the transportation revenue package!

And check out @lhjseattle.bsky.social for their awesome e-bike ride from Seattle to Olympia to testify - maybe we need one continuous bike trail between the two cities?!
The version of the transportation revenue bill heard this morning in the House transportation committee doesn't include any e-bike sales tax, nor would it charge public transit agencies vehicle registration fees.

It would still remove the exemption for public transit vehicles from toll roads.
It is fun to see my friends @danielhep.me and @lhjseattle.bsky.social testifying against the e-bike tax. (It worked! The tax is out of the bill!) Sorry you had to sit next to the Young Republican.
