I met so many elders when canvassing in my little town who are house rich and cash poor and cannot afford to move into a home that is the size they need (even if those homes were legal to build here). Tying your retirement savings up in a house is just buying trouble. We need social housing.

Congratulations to Mayor Herbig and Deputy Mayor Sasson on their elections tonight and to Councilmember Adman on his first meeting. And thank you to city staff for the whirlwind, informative look ahead. 2026 has potential to be a good one locally. I look forward to watching this council in action!

I was well into young adulthood in 2003, so I remember the pre-ICE world very well. Was it perfect? No. Has ICE made it better? Also no.
