A perfect exposition of the problem-am thank you!

The main question is whether to overturn Humphrey’s Executor, a 1935 case that said statutes can limit presidential removal of “quasi legislative” and “quasi judicial” officers. Modern courts say those terms are made up, but they are not. In fact, they are deeply rooted in administrative law. 2/3

I feel a chill these days when I read about things that happened a mere century ago. Just far back enough for most people to have forgotten or died. Media control by people wealthy but deluded, promoting the idea that some one guy had all the solutions and all you had to do was give in. Never again!
This was just after Lord Rothermere destroyed it and sold it to another Conservative—bonus points for the Mirror having been targeted to women before Rothermere bought it

Still dubious there is any message that would do the trick but this is a definite contender and certainly vastly better than saying “you don’t understand how the Senate works”
instead of saying this was good strategy, maybe senate dems should say: "the republicans were going to kill people by starving them to death, and because we aren't monsters, we decided to let this fight go. We'll keep fighting. Stop electing monsters."

In the century leading up to 1975, nearly 6000 freighters went down in the Great Lakes.

The Edmund Fitzgerald was the last.

The last. In 50 years, not a single commercial freighter has been lost in the Great Lakes.

Why?

It's NOAA. Of course it's NOAA.

This article from @nature.com has an interesting perspective- worth reading especially now as people consider Watson’s legacy. He was an intensely unlikable fellow who, along with Crick and Rosalind Franklin, made a world-changing discovery.🧪

What Rosalind Franklin truly contributed to the discovery of DNA’s structure
Franklin was no victim in how the DNA double helix was solved. An overlooked letter and an unpublished news article, both written in 1953, reveal that she was an equal player.

I grew up in Sarasota, where this was absolutely true. Median age at the time (very approximately 1960s) was 65. It was very difficult to get school bond issues passed because many of these people had left behind their home states in Indiana, Ohio, etc and their sense of obligation to the future.
Page One in Palm Beach:

“.. in 23 of Florida’s 67 counties, more than one out of every four residents is over 65.”

This man is a true hero!
Andrew Otazo has plucked, bagged, heaved and hauled more than 17 tons of trash from the mangroves in Florida.

Every piece of garbage he removes reclaims space for what should be there: bird nesting grounds and fish nurseries. https://wapo.st/4oS36Vx

I don’t agree with all these people all the time but I do believe that Lincoln Project, Sarah Longwell, and the Bulwark folks want Democrats to win. All of us who want to keep our foundational representative democracy should be celebrating together today and fighting together tomorrow.
