My bank is raising the minimum balance from $100 to $250. If you have less than that, you get hit with a "maintenance" fee. Yet another attack on those who are living paycheck to paycheck. You shouldn't be charged fees for not having enough money.

New York City went 12 days without a murder in November / December. That's tied for the longest stretch in history, according to the NYPD. As someone who was here when there were 6+ murders per day in this town, it continues to amaze me how safe the place is.

So did Netflix read the tea leaves and decide they'll only stay afloat if they swallow a reputable content company?

Let me give some insight on this, as a producer in the dub industry who worked with major streamers, who's witnessed first-hand where this push for AI is coming from.

tl;dr: Only CEOs want this. Tell them how much you hate it. Be loud, email, call, @, post. You will kill this.

🧵⬇️
The only thing less human than these AI dub performances is the decision to sign off on them

A company this big can pay human actors a decent wage, not produce slop that intentionally removes the human element.

Watching the parade with the kids. The William F. Buckley balloon is a hit as usual.

It would be one thing if AI were improving quality of life. But it really seems intended to improve corporate bottom lines.

She harassed David Hogg and AOC's staff. A bully, never an ally.
It's a sad day when a conservative Republican--I've met Adam, he really is--can see a dangerous fascist like MTG more clearly than some who consider themselves left or liberal.
Please stop falling for the MTG is a new person con.

Please.

My dad knew Cheney since he was fords chief of staff and would always say “i liked him then. Idk what the hell happened”
In the run up to the second Iraq war my dad wrote an article comparing it to the gulf of Tonkin and Cheney himself made sure my father was fired from his gov job

Anyway he’s dead

I don't know what the "global AI race" is, but innovating ourselves into unemployment AND driving up energy bills? Doesn't seem like winning.

For the rest of this Trump term, newborns can start an IRA-like account with $1000 of federal money. That's a potential $3.6 billion of taxpayer money per year pushing up all boats in the market. Yet another example of the fleecing of America.

Every time I see conservative fearmongering about how dangerous the NYC subway is, I feel the need to defend it. I grew up in Ohio. It’s cars that are dangerous. It’s car accidents that are terrifyingly common. I’m not being dramatic when I say the subway is one of the best parts of my life now.

But what ARE the guardrails? For what purpose should a teacher reach for AI? And most importantly, how do you give students the skill of critical thinking, despite the seductive shortcuts that AI provides?
Today we launched the National Academy for AI Instruction with UFT, Microsoft, OpenAI & Anthropic to offer free, high-quality AI training to educators. Some of you have expressed legitimate reservations about AI and tech companies. I want to speak to you directly. 🧵
