(he/him) Not a leftist anymore, just catholic will do. An affirming traditionalist, hoping to revive the Prayer Book Society in my part of the world.

So Basic Income Australia now has a Bluesky page. I must remember to be active here again, even if exhaustion is my default state of being these days.

And the Gloria disappears early from the Mass for me. Which makes me wonder, if one is traditional at home but modern at church, how awkward would it be to participate?

HOLT SHIT, THIS IS *INCREDIBLE*.

An actual treatment for prions! That's fucking ASTOUNDING. Those things are goddamn TERRIFYING.
Scientists have created an actual treatment for prions, the cause of Creutzfeldt–Jakob disease in humans, chronic wasting disease in deer, & mad cow disease.

Brainwide silencing of prion protein by AAV-mediated delivery of an engineered compact epigenetic editor
Prion disease is caused by misfolding of the prion protein (PrP) into pathogenic self-propagating conformations, leading to rapid-onset dementia and death. However, elimination of endogenous PrP halts...

My theology is as follows:
[the answer to the Church’s problems is] ‘More mystery, more weird stuff and more candles!’

One bishop, in one church, literally just asked the president to be nice and him and everyone in his circle been melting down for a week.

These aren't strong people. They're very, very weak people. They can be beaten.

Zuckerberg's 'masculine energy' got its first big win with Trump declaring there are only two genders. This is an agenda that will see laws passed to push gays back into the closet and women back into the kitchen. Our trans siblings are in the front line of this fight, so now more than ever

Please Allies, rethink "support trans rights" as your default position.

In the US, UK and elsewhere, trans *rights* are in the dumpster and no amount of Posting is going to fix it.

Support trans *survival* because a lot of us aren't going to make it without significant, maybe risky, material help.

The end of this is like "trans rights" because firstly, I am a trans and I deserve rights, so if you like my writing you'd better get on board. And secondly, it's there because the fash also love to get weird about old buildings and I need to make sure my stuff doesn't end up popular with them.
I've got a new long read for you, in which I climb Truro Cathedral, turn into a conspiracy theorist about church spires, and try really hard not to interrupt a Christmas carol concert.

It's packed with pretty pictures and you can read the whole thing here: jayhulmepoet.substack.com/p/truro-cath...

And this, in short, is why I changed my social media profiles back in 2021 (22?) to read "Not a leftist anymore".

It really is disconcerting to think that in the span of just a few months, guns are good now. The sooner we are able to speak loudly of the universal, the better politics will be.

A prayer which brings a new perspective on the idea of the new year's resolution. I promised to myself last year I'd try to engage more with the Tomorrow Movement, but I didn't do anything past January. Worse, I still have their shirt.

Time to think of things that are more achievable, I guess.

I can one-up this. Vincent Amos, politically liberal, Christian convert *and* traditionalist.
I am a lifelong Christian and weekly church goer who since middle school has been involved in Democratic politics for 40 years. And I’m an ordained minister in the United Church of Christ. Feels odd to be seen as a statistical anomaly

A few months ago, an evangelical anti-theist publicly asked me if I’d like to come on his YouTube channel to discuss my concept/understanding of God.

I accepted the invitation under one condition: he had to read the book I wrote & published on my concept/understanding of God. 1/4
I'm telling you, I sometimes feel like talking sense to vehement anti-theists is like talking to styrofoam.
