I happened to turn on the stream about :30 before this happened and saw it live. I knew this wouldn’t go well for her, but DAMN!
MAGAZINER: How many veterans have you deported?

NOEM: We haven't deported veterans

MAGAZINER: We are now joined on Zoom by a combat veteran you deported to Korea

Little tip for those on the latest iOS: If you open an image and long press on it, you can turn it into a sticker that you can use in Messages to reply to friends. I see this one coming in handy.

Saw this video of Tristan Harris on Diary of a CEO sharing what AI-tech bros have shared regarding their motivations pursuing this technology. It’s horrifying.

These tech ghouls have us all on a suicide mission because of their EGOS. 🫠

Went with some old friends to see the “Merrily We Roll Along” pro-shot this evening. It was SO GOOD. If you have a chance to catch it in theaters, you really should go.

As a small town City Clerk, I can tell you this is 100% accurate. I was on my condo board, met our mayor who knew I knew how to take minutes, started going to city council meetings. 6 months later they asked me to take over for the outgoing Clerk. Show up; it works.
I really can't emphasize enough that if you care about local politics, all you gotta do is show up. Just a regular schmegular person showing up. Literally just show up consistently in person and within a remarkably short amount of time, you will have a shocking amount of influence.

Well, if he really wants to part with that money, how about he pay some fucking taxes for a change? That’d be an easy place to start.

Lowe's just emailed to ask me to review my recent purchases 🙈

If the past year has shown me nothing else, it’s shown me that you have to aggressively seek community. Maybe you don’t change the world, but maybe you make the lives of the 400 people that live around you better. That’s WAY easier, and in many ways more valuable.

I’ve been watching a lot of reaction videos of “Clue” lately, and now my inner monologue while selecting a doughnut is voiced by super campy Tim Curry, “would you like chocolate? Perhaps raspberry, or lemon?Bourbon caramel. Strawberry. Or Cinnamon Roll?”

Obviously this is purely anecdotal, but I went out to get doughnuts this morning and there was almost no traffic around one of Louisville’s major shopping centers at 7:00 AM on Black Friday. Maybe early shopping isn’t so much a thing nowadays.

Not actually celebrating until Friendsgiving on Saturday, but I decided to do a trial run turkey breast. So far so good.

I’m not an economist, but I’ve felt like the math hasn’t mathed about a lot of things for a long time. This confirms that maybe I wasn’t wrong about that after all.

I highly suggest watching today’s Vergecast. It’s the best guide to how we make a better Internet going forward that I’ve heard so far.

I was going to make French Toast for breakfast, but I kept tweaking it, and it turned into a Spiced Mocha Bread Pudding with a Pecan Crumble Topping.

I think the real Kobayashi Maru we’ve got here is almost everyone in the US line of succession is involved in this or would somehow be WORSE (which is another problem in and of itself).

I know the world has larger issues at the moment, but why did nobody tell me there’s a VR mini-golf game that has a Myst course, complete with putt-putt puzzles? This is the Neo-Retro-Futurist escapism I didn’t know I needed in my life.

Why did you send me an email asking where to send a check and for what amount when you scanned and attached the letter I sent you? On that letter there is a return address, and there is "Amount currently owed: $[amount]" printed in bold in the middle of the page. Just (re-)read the letter.
