Librarian and nerd. Trying to keep my Star Trek posting to a reasonable level. Bi, she/her. Would strongly prefer not to be reposted.
In Seasons 2 and 3 of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Buffy has a repeated "I am at rock bottom" outfit of demin dungarees. (Also seen at one point for just casual hanging out at home.) I am not completely certain that it's always the same pair, though, which suggests she has multiple Sadness Dungarees.
it makes me actually happy when it happens in a tv show, it's such a small detail to actually have the character in a specific known cosy cardigan for specific scenes, or a smart suit you recognise when they're trying to be impressive, tv does not do it enough
My other other conclusion is that "outfit recycling" should be the highest badge of honor in fashion and so we should STOP complimenting people for new clothes and START complimenting people who wear the same thing again.

Went into London today and visited the Ursula K. Le Guin map exhibition (www.aaschool.ac.uk/publicprogra...) and then met up with my brother and visited multiple bookshops. Despite my intentions to be somewhat restrained (as I hope to get books for my birthday next week, and Christmas), I got these.

Rob's parents dropped in today (on their way home from London), which meant frantic cleaning and tidying, but which also meant they got to meet the cat. It's possible they did not care about meeting her, but I view it as a great treat, and they were polite enough to go along with it.

Katie brought her first mouse inside. Still alive and in apparent good shape, thankfully, and very easy to retrieve (it was on one of my shoes, so I just picked the shoe up and took it and the mouse outside). I am impressed, but hope this isn't the start of a more predatory mode of behaviour.

I finally got The Ministry of Time from the library! I am looking forward to it.

I get lots of emails at work from people using a plain text email format (even people using Gmail, at times), and when I reply to them and my reply ends up in plain text as well, I have begun thinking "whoa, buddy, what's all this code?" as a way to be less annoyed. xkcd.com/2139/

Just watched an episode of The West Wing in which one character needed to meet with the vice-president and the only available slot in his schedule was jogging. The thought of having to discuss political policy with someone senior to me while jogging is nightmarish; I wouldn't cope in DC.

Accidentally shut Katie in the dining room for approximately an hour. She squeaked loudly at Rob when he opened the door and freed her, but promptly went back into the dining room, so doesn't seem to have suffered too much.

We bought a book at work recently, and I discovered when checking it against the catalogue record that it did not have a title page. We told the seller, who has apologised and said that they have looked into it and apparently the whole print run is like this.

Just learned that the UK has a "#1 Shrek tribute band" (who performed in Oxford yesterday), which suggests that there are more out there.

Trying to summon up the energy to apply for a job, but motivation is at a very low ebb (especially as the four applications I've done over the last year and a half all resulted in rejection).

Bonfire Night has taken place, and places seem to have taken that as the signal to get the Christmas decorations out. On my way to and from work I passed a business with a mechanical Father Christmas outside singing "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year". Seven more weeks of this!

Enjoying Felicity Cloake's latest book, in which she is cycling around America and sampling lots of food (after doing the same in France and the UK).

No spoilers, but: tonight's GBBO finale, when talking about what the bakers have been up to post-series, included "A family holiday to Dover inspired X to bake its famous White Cliffs", with a picture of X in front of Not Dover. I am certain that it's the Seven Sisters viewed from Cuckmere Haven.
