I don't think this will actually happen. But if it does, the UK should simply start subjecting the actions of US-owned social media platforms in this country to British law. Incitement, defamation, intellectual property.
Buckle up - because this now amounts to a direct and deliberate attack on our country and its cultural sovereignty. Which side our politicians take - Trump's or the BBC's - over the coming days and weeks will speak volumes about their patriotism.
Trump says he will sue BBC for at least $1bn over Panorama edit
The US president confirmed he intends to sue the broadcaster for at least $1bn over the Panorama edit of a 2021 speech.

completely totally utterly agree
The fact that this person remains Health Secretary is objectively one of the most significant British political scandals of the post-Covid era. But because he's doing something the media barons like, everyone has decided it's fine.
Health Secretary Wes Streeting says that the British Medical Association, which represents Britain's doctors, is a threat to the NHS. Streeting took a record £225k from private healthcare-related donors in just two years.

Meanwhile, here's an example of the horrendous things found in Hillary Clinton's emails—the only story worth covering for any serious news outlet in 2016, apparently.

This email is also regarding a child who suffered abuse from a grown man.

Just months after taking over they're now set to slash multiple council committees as they struggle to fill posts after sacking nine of their own councillors

THEY FAR RIGHT ARE GOING TO DESTROY THE BBC FOR AN EDIT.

EVERY SINGLE INTERVIEW OR SPEECH IS EDITED BECAUSE MOST PEOPLE DO NOT SPEAK IN NICE TIGHT SOUNDBITES.

THE MISTAKE WAS HAVING A CUTAWAY INSTEAD OF A WHITE FLASH.

THIS IS INSANITY

I studied war poets for A Level English and this has never, ever left me. I still find it almost unbearable to read.
But its power is unmistakable.
There is nothing glorious about war. Far too many young men lost their lives, far too many women lost their husbands, sons and brothers. 1/

This perfectly encapsulates how I feel living in the US. The republican party is an insane death cult, the democratic party is 3 corporations in a trench coat, and the "socialists" are just the completely normal left-wing capitalists you'd find in any of 2 dozen European nations.
Europeans recognize Zohran Mamdani’s supposedly radical policies as ‘normal’

another day, another bomb falls on the British TV landscape. I fear we are selling off the family jewels to people who don't care about their beauty and craftmanship.
First the building and now the channels. Like it or not, this is part of our cultural history being ravaged.

This is yet another example of how you beat the far right. By beating them, not trying to be them. By having your own agenda, not aping theirs. With courage and conviction - and humour - not fear and timidity.

great thread
1. In the wake on Mamdani’s win, we’ll see a lot more far right anti-urban sentiment. Here’s a thread on its roots and evolution.

The idea that the city is evil and corrupt, and the countryside innocent and pure, goes back a long way: to Theocritus in Alexandria, and to the Old Testament. 🧵
