When you look at the list of institutions they want to defund: libraries, museums, the Smithsonian, public schools, PBS, NPR, archives, you can clearly see that the real threat to an authoritarian regime is an informed and educated public

Myth: UBI will induce laziness.

Fact: Survival-driven work leads to burnout, whereas self-motivated work generates its own momentum.

UBI allows individuals to pursue work that aligns with their values, potentially reducing 'laziness' and boosting overall well-being.

A real bastard consequence of being a commercial artist is not only is it impossible for me to make money ethically, but as fascism rolls in I'm forced to watch companies and creatives I work for kneel one by one and lick boots with exuberant pleasure. And I still need to eat. Welp.

I think Bluesky is a great platform and I’m here to stay. However, a bookmark function would make the experience SO much better and much more functional for research/ information gathering, especially for reporters. Pretty please @support.bsky.team @bsky.app ?

Anti-revolution insurance, pitchfork prevention, Luigi protection, however you want to refer to universal basic income, the billionaires really should prefer it to bunker building and should be thrilled to pay the annual subscription fee, especially in exchange for AI and robot labor.

40 hr, 5 day work week is not written in stone. It was implemented just 100 years ago & we need to again, change with the times.
We have to change the mindset that meaningless hours of work doesn't equal productivity.
We are productive when we are rested & fully recharged.
Also UBI 🤝 4 day work week
Companies in Germany spent a year testing a 4-day work week where hours were reduced by 20% but pay was not. Output remained at 100% or exceeded it. 73% of the companies plan to stick to the new schedule and the remaining 27% plant to tweak it or are still unsure.

Four-day work week success in Germany
Germany trialled a new four-day work week with great success, as 73% of companies will continue to only work four days out of the week.

I recommend no fewer than 4 copies of any beloved book. A paperback for traveling and lending to friends, an eBook for reading with greasy snack fingers, an audio book so you know how the characters' names are actually pronounced, and a pristine hardcover to be buried with you like a pharaoh

I start reading over 100 books a year; I finish less than 20% of them.

Books are not homework assignments; if what you're reading doesn't bring you pleasure or satisfaction, give it to your local library and move onto a book that you will truly enjoy.
