I *really* appreciate how @tomesandtextiles.bsky.social responded when she learned the viral "Moms for Liberty won none of their (contested) elections!" was misinformation. This was classy and helpful for those who also spread that without any verification.

I am one of the people that fell for the disinformation and posted about it. I have now deleted all my posts. So sorry for spreading these lies further. I will try to do better in the future and not react so quickly without triple checking resources.
Viral posts about how Moms For Liberty had zero wins on election night...aren't true. They're misinformation, even dis-info.

M4L did have a number of school board candidates win. You can verify that information pretty easily.

They had *A LOT* of losses and their power isn't what it once was.

Look at who in your community is putting up food pantries and serving free meals no questions asked. It's certainly not large box corporate restaurants and retail establishments, but mom and pop restaurants, locally owned coffee shops, etc… 1/2

What if 10% of the people that marched in the No Kings protests this past weekend spoke up against book bans at their school boards and public libraries?
What if they spoke up about defunded libraries?
What if they ran for office or volunteered to be on a public minicipal board?

Regardless of what exterior forces want you to believe, there is no such thing as overconsumption of reading and learning, especially in a time of rising anti-intellectualism. They've created the myth to try and ban books and defund public education.

So SNAP benefits are the problem and not my taxes going towards a $200 million dollar ballroom during a government shutdown where actual government employees aren’t being paid m, but the politicians with six-figure salaries and universal healthcare who created the shutdown are? PLEASE

Not all resistance looks the same, but continuing the work is vital even when it’s not all over the news. It’s the quiet work of mutual aid and community that will save us.

Oh, it’s inconvenient to you to ask me to do something and I ask for a contract and a budget before agreeing?

Trust me, it’s far more inconvenient for me to agree to do something that you will be profiting from for free.

I am so tired of people thinking having an influencer do promotion means it should be free. And asking me for free labor while you have whole salary? Where do you find the audacity?

Content creator’s time is valuable. Our social media sells books. You wouldn’t need me 1/2

Just watched a video (of someone from outside the book community) that started off with the premise “read diverse fiction to combat authoritarianism” and then went on to give 1984 as an example 🤦🏻‍♀️

Anyway, please follow BIPOC creators who read and recommend actual diverse fiction every single day

FYI: If your entire Banned Books Week display is white “classic” authors, you are doing it wrong

It’s October 10th and the only people I still see posting Latinx Heritage Month posts are…Latinx creators.

FYI—Latinx Heritage Month doesn’t end until October 15th.

This wasn’t just a fizzle, it was a fall off a cliff for support of Latinx authors this LHM 1/2

I hope to live the type of life that when my sibling vagueposts something about my health, the entire world stops what they’re doing to say a prayer or light a candle for my well-being.

Sending prayers for my girl, Dolly 💕
