The Trump regime just killed a rule protecting millions of acres of western Arctic lands from fossil fuel drilling.

It’s yet another giveaway to Big Oil — which spent $450 million backing Trump and Republicans and lobbying Congress last year.

Superb
Brazil continues to lead the way in taking on rogue power. A Supreme Court panel has moved to put lawmaker Eduardo Bolsonaro on trial for seeking Trump's help to halt criminal proceedings against his father, former President Jair Bolsonaro.

So it turns out the dodgy "internal"report from a right-wing PR guy, appointed by a Tory spin doctor, appointed to the BBC by Boris Johnson; itself misquoted Donald Trump's Jan 6th speech - leaving out the bad stuff 🤪

What lessons do we draw from that? 🤷‍♂️

"[Michael Prescott] The man who sparked chaos at the #BBC by criticising Panorama’s ‘misleading’ edit of a Donald Trump speech also doctored Trump’s quotes himself in his controversial report, making them seem far more benign than they actually were"

Wonder what Robbie Gibb has to say about that? 🤷‍♂️
Presumably the Daily Telegraph and GB News will go big on this story?*

Deeply embarrassing: Michael Prescott himself doctored a Trump quote in his anti-BBC report against...doctoring a Trump quote.

Note that this is for voters in general - I need to redo the graph, but strongly suspect the black line would be even higher for Labour voters... you know, the people that Labour need to win at the next election.
A chart from "The British General Election of 2024" (out soon!) which is relevant to this debate - here's what voters wanted (black line) and what they though Labour (red) and Cons (blue) would do on tax and spend during the campaign. Higher figures = "put them up". Some important lessons here 1/?

Seems to me, Liable Law is a plaything of the rich and powerful.
It’s Donald Trump versus the BBC, as Britain’s public service broadcaster faces a $1 billion lawsuit over an allegedly misleading edit of the US president’s speech.

POLITICO breaks down what happens next — and the risks on both sides of the Atlantic.

I support Sir Keir Starmer.

He is our PM and must remain as PM.

This speculation about his future needs to stop.

The media have it in for him and he is actually doing a bloody good job.

4. Farage probably has a gambling industry donor.

What fun!
Be fun if the BBC chose to counter sue Trump for £1bn also for defrauding the public

I listened on R4Today ... convinced me!
Watching Wes Streeting on Sky News successfully skewer the overnight Downing Street briefings against him, you almost have to admire the ineptitude of those around Keir Starmer in turning his own leadership problems into a major story while boosting the very politician they sought to kneecap

The fact that the BBC has made serious culpable errors does not negate the point that there is a real and concerted right-wing media campaign to destroy it. Both points can be true at the same time and the campaign would not end even if the errors did.

The worst you can accuse Panorama of doing is making a misleading edit – and I’d dispute that! – to make *a point that was true*.

The programme aired without anyone seeing any issues with the edit. It was on iPlayer for a year without complaints. Donald Trump *did* incite Jan 6th.
Tory culture spox demanding the BBC "grovel" to Trump is baffling. Who is this supposed to chime with?

Just a bizarre line that no one who doesn't use X would ever think.
