Printmaker, and some other things.
Pinned
I make prints, ceramics, paintings and do writing as Unquiet Arcadian, a term I devised in an effort to harness some of the duality in artistic practice.

Unquiet: agitated, restless, uneasy. Arcadian: striving for a quiet life, in harmony with nature.

First they came for the green bins and I said nothing because I had forgotten to put them out.
Then they came for the black bins and I said nothing because I had put out the green bins by mistake.
Then they came for the brown bins and I said nothing because nobody knows when it's brown bins.

So lovely to see one of the original Commonplace Oracle decks still getting good use on another continent! I love it’s when people share their decks - it’s like getting a postcard from a much loved family member 🌱
I've decided to boost my usage of The Commonplace Oracle by @unquietarcadian.bsky.social . This has long been one of my favorite oracle decks. Going deeper with a notebook for personal insights & meanings. #witchsky #OracleDeck

I’ve shown this foliate head or Green Man sconce in a few places this year and it always gets an intriguing response. Looking at its closed eyes as we get to the darkest depths of winter prompts a yearning for hibernation and stasis; safe beneath the leaves. 🌱 1/4

I’ll be closing my online shop for a short hibernation from Friday 13th December - when I’ll be taking my last orders to catch the Christmas post in time. There’s a few bargains still to be had, including zines, ceramics and discounted Tarot, Oracle and Lenormand sets amongst the many prints.

Folklore. There's a real buzz for folklore books in Britain at the moment. Lot's of big publishers interested, academic & trade. I suspect it's connected with a "state of the nation" identity crisis + environmental concerns etc. Understandable comfort in folklore immersion.

Word of the day is ‘hibernacle’ (18th century): a hibernating animal’s winter retreat.

I believe it works on a human level too.

I’m not really sure if I believe in past lives, but I had an intense experience of deja vu visiting this shrine in my teens. I seemed to have memories of the tea rituals. Fast forward to now, after my father’s untimely death and foxes seem to guard our family and have become a totemic animal for us.

Just had a weird encounter with someone trying to scam me pretending to be TSB. Pretended that someone was using my cards for Air BnBs in Aberdeen and buying jewelry from H Samuel. Was very convincing, and they nearly got information out of me. Fell apart when I said I was going to call the bank…

I have a few of these small stoneware decorations remaining after the print fairs. They have been created with some of my favourite linocut stamps which have been pressed into clay then fired and glazed with oxides.

Currently half price…
