Re-posting with alt text because the post accompanying this is obviously wrong, it's clearly a picture of a woman on a Crosscountry train having found a place to sit on the floor and read, her coffee cup beside her, folks queuing for the loo behind her

ULEZ means about 1,500 sq kilometres - the whole of Greater London - is covered by road emissions control.

Stop and think about that for a second. It's incredible. Its impact on public health has been huge.

Studies said it would take 200 YEARS to reach this emission level. Khan did it in five.

Just a reminder that an individual's national insurance payments do not fund their State pension.

The average person's national insurance payments cover about half the cost of their state pension:

Residents using Mill Hill East station deserve better. The delays, no shows, and huge gaps in services during peak times are unacceptable, and I have been supporting residents who have gathered this data.

An RN rating carries a young girl along a cluttered dock in Greenock, Scotland, March 1, 1945. This famous image, and the story behind it, epitomise naval purpose: protect the high seas; safeguard civilians.

This is the story of the Sørøya Island rescue.

Please, science Bluesky. I am begging. I need to know the most ridiculous looking species.

Please tell me what the weirdest little weirdos on the planet are.

Give me your weirdest animal facts.

My feeble grip on sanity is dependent on you.

Yep. We have been out of contract with Elsevier at MIT for 4.5 years now, at substantial savings to the Institute. Happy to share our experience with any library interested in following suit.
Exclusive: ‘Lots more’ university libraries could drop big subscription deals.

After several institutions drop Elsevier deals, senior librarians say rising costs and severe financial strain have reached a “tipping point”.

Whenever work dies down a bit, the monstrous task of put-aside admin begins. Forms, returns, organisational arrangements, payments, receipts, invoices. The great bureaucratic fucking tyranny of adulthood, which can never be truly defeated.

🧵There's a line of thought that Trump's victory means progressive causes are doomed in the court of public opinion. I don't think that's true, but I do think it shows more thought needs to be given to what ought to be a tautology but infact often isn't - inclusive progressivism.
