Spent the first two weeks of March in County Kerry, Ireland. This week I’ll be sharing my story of getting lost up a mountain and in a bog on my email newsletter and as a post for free members on mine and @nicolewitte.bsky.social’s Patreon. Good time to join one or both.
If you’ll be at the Cucalorus film festival on 11/22 you should see Snakeskin Jacket a remix of my personal favorite Lynch film, Wild at Heart.

The way this tortured mess of a sentence manages to encapsulate so many of the problems in this country from the housing crisis to the healthcare crisis to the sexual exploitation of minors to the powerful being free of accountability and major news orgs desperate to protect them is impressive.
A teenager in Florida with a homeless parent wanted money for braces and ended up having sex for money with powerful men, setting off a chain of events that would have a dramatic impact on her life and help upend the political career of Representative Matt Gaetz. nyti.ms/49PSkL9

If you ever wonder why your artist friend is so pissed off whenever they see AI slop used instead of real, human-created art, it's exactly what you think:
How is AI *really* impacting jobs?

Henley Chiu, the CTO of Revealera, a jobs data analysis firm, analyzed 180 million jobs listings in 2024 and 2025, in an effort to find out. Chiu found an:

-8% drop in all jobs postings
-~30% drop in art, photography, writing jobs
-22% drop in journalism jobs
What’s really going on with AI and jobs?
Record-breaking layoff reports, Amazon's mass firings, and a slump in entry level employment. Is AI behind it all?

Predictable but still amazing to watch people who spent literally years accusing every librarian, teacher, and trans person they could find of sexually grooming children suddenly throw themselves in with "actually it's ephebophilia"
Megyn Kelly: "I know somebody very close to this case…Jeffrey Epstein, in this person's view, was not a pedophile…He was into the barely legal type, like he liked 15 year old girls…He wasn't into like 8 year olds…There's a difference between a 15 year old and a 5 year old."

Can we circle back to the part where the NY Times never disclosed that they have incriminating information on Donald Trump from sent by Epstein that's been sitting on their email servers for nearly a decade?
Stuff like this makes me wonder why there hasn't been any reporting about Trump having affairs during his presidencies

This is a really excellent example of what is wrong with how our education system “works” (among other systems). So much is driven more by poorly informed opinion, “that’s just how we do it,” or sunk cost fallacy than research. It’s hurting kids.

Agreed. “James Bond is a code name” is an idea I thought was good when I was 13. The character is a story vehicle, vague enough to plug into whatever spy thriller concept you need but specific enough to bring a set of tropes that give the films a continuity of a kind.
Also: “James Bond is a code name” is a lazy and “continuity-first” retcon patch job that just doesn’t hold water. James Bond is James Bond, the son of Andrew Bond and Monique Delacroix Bond, and has been one character for 70+ years. Just tell a good story between the titles. It’s not a soap opera.

Today is an absolute rebuke of anti-transgender politics, and a real sign that the anti-trans panic is fading.

From VA Gov to Loudoun County to New Jersey to New York City and Pennsylvania, anti-trans Republicans are falling left and right.
Democrats are currently ahead in 63 (!!!) races in the Virginia House of Delegates.

If this holds, it would be one of the largest state legislature swings in the last 4 years.

Its an absolute bloodbath for anti-trans Republicans.

It fell completely flat with voters. It did not resonate. Virginia Republicans came across as bizarre and detached from working class families.

today’s information came out piecemeal, and people should be able to share their own situations on their own time, but I could share this much ^ as it is pretty cut and dry on the facts.

Teen Vogue also no longer has any trans staffers as of today.

Every time she comes up, I remind you all that Pamela Paul killed a pro trans paragraph in a review I wrote for the New York Times, lied about it in the press, then when I confronted her with receipts, said “Let’s keep this to ourselves.”
In which a straight woman highlights a bunch of known anti trans activists and claims there's a divide in the queer community.

It's pure propaganda and gaslighting.
