Pretty sure policy in this current administration is guided merely by whatever personal petty whims the leaders have. There is no consideration of science, long-term consequences, public good, or even the thought that companies are private.

It’s the “season of love and giving”…but this year, doesn’t it seem more like a “season of fear and taking”? Like many of you, I’ve been saddened by the human impact of draconian government budget cuts and how angry many housed Americans are at unhoused Americans.

Poverty is a policy choice. Concentrated wealth is a policy choice. Inequality is a policy choice. None of it is natural or inevitable. Remember: We have the power to build a system that serves the many, not the powerful few.

The 400 richest Americans are now worth a record $6.6 trillion.

The entire bottom 50% of America is worth just $4.2 trillion.

Read that back.

When 400 people control more wealth than half a country’s population, we have a very serious problem.

At minimum, there should be a tax on AI use and a tax on the land they use for data centers and they should provide their own energy.

A student today mentioned that he has a safety plan for *every classroom* he is in.
I told the kids in class that I am so sorry that this is part of their lives.
"I've had an escape plan for every classroom I've been in for the last twelve years." Student leaders from Evergreen High School share their candid thoughts with our @marcsallinger.bsky.social following last week's shooting.

For decades, Republicans in Washington have told us that tax cuts would trickle down to workers.

Instead, wealth and power have accumulated in the hands of the richest 1% at the expense of the rest of us.

Trickle-down economics was never supposed to work.

It was a hoax.

5yo: Daddy, I like these [Bluey] toothbrushes.
Dad: why do you need a new toothbrush? You don't even brush your teeth?
5yo: Mine is boring.

When teachers as public servants are given ridiculously small increases every year ($200ish), and other public servants receive higher raises year after year, the problem isn't money.
It is insane to me that the government can find money to pay ICE agents increasingly larger sums of money, yet teachers have to buy their own pencils.

PSA for parents of middle schoolers and high schoolers: Their teachers would super appreciate if you sent them to school with a big box of tissues, one per teacher, (the softer the better) and a container of antibacterial wipes.

If you haven't watched Shiny Happy People season 2, yet, set aside some time to watch. It is educational and horrifying. I think that this movement is what is shaping so much of our current politics. #ShinyHappyPeople
