Crazy theory but maybe @jay.bsky.team and team are under immense legal pressure and this is their very subtle way to tell us to get decentralized asap.
Perhaps what @jay.bsky.team and the rest want to see is for people to take control of their own agency and contribute by building things that will combat the rise of extremists targeting vulnerable minorities. Bluesky is in an awkward position as a US entity subject to arbitrary federal decisions

this is also something you see in religious communities about people who leave. they lose the "light in their eyes" or the "warm glow of their hug" these kinds of extremists literally believe that going against their beliefs causes you ontological damage.
