Everyone discusses the lessons we can take from Persephone, but no one mentions my favorite lesson: That you can be both Death *and* the Maiden.

Oh, how I love horror where the colonial greed is why the strange new world has demons, not indigenous practices.

I have a two-step solution to our modern loneliness epidemic:
1. Haul immense stone slabs over long distances to build a Great Temple to Aten;
2. Gather at the Great Temple to Aten.

It's definitely not how you get a country ruled by a military junta. Not at all.
I've read a couple of history books and I can tell you for sure that rounding up your generals, having a drunk yell at them and call them fat, and then stopping paying them that same day is absolutely how you institute durable personalist rule

I'm in Seattle right now, and the biggest culture shock is how many people casually consume energy drinks like Red Bull or Monster. In New York, it's either Celsius or coffee. Anything else leads to everyone being very concerned for your well-being.

I was reading the news and discovered that NYRP is giving away chestnut trees to New Yorkers, which is cool. Unfortunately, I don't have a backyard (but any New Yorker who does can sign up for one here).
