Some people seem to genuinely believe they have the right to ask everyone in the country to fund their extremely expensive career interests, without evidence of benefit, during a time of job losses, tariffs and inflation. I don't need a chat bot.

i just reviewed 50+ applications for an arts award and most of them were written by chatgpt. And then the other reviewers said they put them into Gemini to rank them. At a certain point, if everyone is giving their thinking entirely over to AI, why are we even bothering with any of this anymore?

In my house today, crawling up the stairs while whimpering like a kicked puppy: "oh god, why"

Important to notice: killing random people at sea has a purpose: desensitize the electorate to the dictator killing people. Which can then turn into normalizing threats to kill political opponents, which then leads to actual political executions.

One of the best parts of the internet is how people were afforded access to information beyond their educational level or experience.

The problem is that people take a scientific concept they don't understand or recognize and instead of researching it, discard it as unnecessary.
As a biochemist, that's not true. WE know exactly how Tylenol works. We know the mechanisms, the pharmacokinetics, the receptors targeted, the enzymes released...

Explaining that in a way that doesn't take a minimum of a 4 year niche degree plus a lot of math and physics ?

That's the hard part.

One thing I learned many years ago on the fringes of Film Twitter is that people who get granular about the age of consent are bad news. (Ditto irl men who can quote from memory Humbert Humbert lines from Lolita.)

We bought into the "post scarcity" narrative because digital tech feels so magic and ethereal but we need to get back to an understanding of the material costs and effects of those systems. They are not very post-scarce in reality.

Glenn’s wife Lynn here. If you’re following along with his health saga, he sailed through yesterday’s cardiac surgery! He’ll move slowly for a while but he’s already telling jokes & offering medical trivia to, well, the medical team. Did you know that the medicine colchicine comes from crocuses?!

Hey so “underage girls” are…children. The word you’re looking for is children. They’re not like, women-in-waiting or women-lite or whatever. They’re children. I think some of you are very uncomfortable with what that means for you but it is still true.

I still believe Christine Blasey Ford and I still believe Anita Hill.
Jeffrey Epstein advised Steve Bannon that the lawyers representing Brett Kavanaugh in his confirmation hearing should accuse Christine Blasey Ford of being on medications that cause false memories or memory loss.

The effort to keep this information out of public view has reached a level of intensity where the American people are clearly entitled to "adverse inference", i.e. you're allowed to assume the worst.
PANIC SETS IN

Pam Bondi, Kash Patel, Todd Blanche, and others, plan on holding an EMERGENCY MEETING today on the Epstein Files as the discharge vote nears.

Rep. Boebert will reportedly be there.

It appears there is an all hands on deck effort to try to prevent a vote on the Epstein Files. (CNN)

in Paris, I had to see a same-day doctor & I found one. was gravely warned that, as a foreigner, I’d have to pay 32 euros & I laughed & laughed

a friend there said “make sure you get X kind of doctor, not Y, because the Y kind charges 74 WHOLE EUROS” & once again I bitterly, bitterly laughed 😭
My ACA current plan is going from $385/mo to $821/mo.

Our political system is fundamentally broken. It was not designed to represent the will of the people and it is incapable of doing so today.

The people don't want a king. The people don't want Democrats to surrender. The people don't want only two parties.

The people don't want any of this.
