British boomer back in the UK after 30 years working in France 🇨🇵 and Sweden 🇸🇪. I miss being an EU 🇪🇺 citizen but thankfully my kids have Swedish passports so their lives haven't been completely screwed. Be nice. Be kind.

Personal note: London has been home for a very, very long time, but as of today, I am also officially a Brit - that is to say, a British citizen. I feel relieved and I feel grateful - but not, perhaps, in the forelock-tugging way GB News/Starmer expect a new immigrant to be.

For many years I have been posting little observations online. What you may not know is that for many years, artists have been illustrating them - for no reason other than they wanted to respond. Below is a thread of some of these beautiful drawings because they should be seen 🧵

I have no idea what's going on here, but I truly believe the most masculine thing we can do as men is go around making people happy. The strongest men I know lift up the people around them.
I love this so much and I am absolutely tearing up about it. The gentleness and plainness of this, the way he just lets her be her (and she seems so damn lovely, who wouldn’t?), the generosity.

It isn’t going to solve the world’s problems, but this kind of humanity is a hell of a start.

Reminded, once again, of the story of Franz Reichelt - the tailor whose lust for fame and fortune and extreme case of Dunning Kruger led him to leap off the Eiffel Tower.

Hi, BlueSky. It's Hillary.

I've joined up here to help get the word out about an important election in Wisconsin tomorrow, and other ways to defend our democracy against those who think votes can be bought.

I regret not calling myself working class
We emerged with posher accents and a belief we would automatically out-perform our parents financially (which never quite panned out). The working-class label didn’t quite seem to fit

Now, we promise we won't keep on doing this, but we're tantalisingly close to 2,000 followers, so if anyone fancies giving us a follow and/or an RT, that would be amazing.

Has it occured to Elon that he should give the hackers a piece of his company to get them to stop doing it?

Apparently that's how this works.

I don't write much online, and I don't think I ever will. More passive stalker than angry talker. But I felt I should say that while I have absolutely no problems with Threads, it was a safe place after Xitter, Bluesky is lovely and the go to for breaking news and views now.

They're right. Things seem to be getting much more animated over here. I'll have to come over more often and think of something interesting to say.

I left X and I'm happy on Threads, so I haven't interacted here much. But you seem to be a nice crowd so I'll try to make an effort.

Dog stories with happy endings and silly jokes get a thumbs up and a follow. Anyone mean gets a block. Life's too short to be unkind and angry all the time.
