Listening to @socialistdogmom.bsky.social on Weird Little Guys and I realized I might be able to clear up a point. She was talking about Yianniki being the guys name and wasn't sure why. -iki is a kind of Greek diminutive for names. My wife who is (US-born) Greek confirmed it. So its Little John.

It's interesting bc one of the things Erdoğan did early on in Turkey was purge academics. It started small but led to the expulsion of 6,000+ academic and hundreds of prosecutions. The lists of those to be expelled were prepared by the universities themselves.
