Two main goals in mind here:

1. Minimizing any chance of military or law enforcement use (also ad targeting, AI / crypto bullshit, etc.).
2. Staying under the radar of litigious asshole billionaire platform owners.
I wish we had models for private open source-ish software licenses. Something like “if you have been given access to this repo you can use and modify this code freely under the following terms, which prohibit redistribution (among other things)”.
I know things are bad in the US right now, but this number is still shocking to me. I’m not entirely sure how I would answer this question myself, and I’ve chosen to spend the last seven years living in another country.
"In 2025, 40% of women aged 15 to 44 say they would move abroad permanently if they had the opportunity. The current figure is four times higher than the 10% who shared this desire in 2014, when it was generally in line with other age and gender groups."
Record Numbers of Younger Women Want to Leave the U.S.
The percentage of younger women in the U.S. who express a desire to migrate permanently has surged in the past decade.

Yes, it would be kind of funny if Dugin told Trump to kill himself. No, that random X account that says it’s Dugin is not Dugin, because of course it isn’t.
The @/AGDugin account (Twitter ID 1476962939236200451) has had at least five previous screen names. You can find one of them here, as well as a profile photo of a person who is presumably Pires:

You don’t have to amplify Nazis just because they said something reasonable about Epstein. If you see someone approvingly screenshotting the fucking AF Post on here, just fucking block them, don’t make other people see that shit.

One of the striking things in Epstein's emails is how fucking inarticulate he is, and how *every other billionaire is just as bad at communicating*.

They're the exact textual equivalents of any interview with Altman or Musk or Thiel etc just fucking babbling incoherent word salad.

Bluesky’s moderation is incompetent and bad in almost every way you can imagine, but “Bluesky has the worst censorship problem on social media” is still a wildly absurd thing to say.

A few days ago X broke the X Ads Transparency Center by shutting down the endpoint that handles search for the ads repository. Type e.g. “apple” here and it will spin indefinitely, with the search requests returning 404s behind the scenes:

Reminder that just because you see a screenshot of Grok spreading disinformation you don’t have to spread disinformation by making more people see a screenshot of Grok spreading disinformation.
Why are people posting screenshots of their interactions with a fascist billionaire’s engagement-powered propaganda machine?

Big neighborhood murder milestone this week. They’re finally eating out of my hand. Not sure if it took them two years to trust me or if I just wasn’t patient enough previously.

outstanding to see this research continue…
Just published an updated list of X subscriber counts:
Here’s the most recent data I have. In most cases the observation dates here are from the last week. It cuts off at <10 subscribers, but I’m happy to share the full list (9,915 with at least one subscriber).

I don’t have time to resolve these at the moment, but in case anyone’s interested, here are the Twitter IDs for the earliest 1k followers for “End Wokeness” (excluding ones that have been suspended or deactivated):

Was just reminded of a video published last year supposedly “proving” that Jack Posobiec “likely” runs the “End Wokeness” account. Maybe he does (I doubt it), but there’s no real evidence in that video.

Just biked past the Volksbühne, where they have a big “AMERICA AT 250” sign, and for a second I thought “what, that’s years away”, but no, I just don’t understand the passage of time.

An “I came across your work on XYZ” recruiter email just made it through my spam filter, and I couldn’t remember whether I’d ever worked on XYZ, so I Googled it + my name, and the AI overview says I made a YouTube video about XYZ, which is how I know it’s all hallucination.

I know this weird little Nazi is probably mostly lying about being afraid of getting arrested if she comes back to Germany, but still, as an American who sometimes worries a little about returning to America, I love this for her.

This is the problem with building a disinformation machine like Grok when you’re an incompetent asshole: there are lots of competent assholes who would also like a disinformation machine.
It would be so fucking easy to pump disinformation into Grok.

It’s so funny to me that Grok often says “I checked @memory.lol” when people ask it about screen names on X, because 1) @memory.lol is one of the reasons Twitter gave for suspending my account in 2023, and 2) Grok only has access to a fraction of a percent of @memory.lol.

I’m not a club person, but I still find it really disappointing that half the Berlin club posters I see now are AI-generated.

Every open source community I’ve ever been involved in (and almost every tech community more generally) has been a cautionary tale about preoccupation with intent.

As a marginalized person, a dogwhistle is a red flag, a way to know someone or something isn’t safe.

But I often see white people in particular discuss dogwhistle from a place of evaluating intent of the person using them to decide guilt or innocence.

Hot take maybe but I don’t really think there has to be a path to redemption for guys with a Nazi tattoo. You can just write them off forever, not vote for them, whatever. Life is short. You don’t have to care why some asshole made a decision like that.
