I normally defend RT by saying something like "The tomatometer measures breadth, not depth of appeal," but I've really got nothing here. I don't know a single person who dislikes this movie and I don't want to.
i will be A knight's tale defender until the day i die, then i will haunt everyone who talks shit about the movie

There's a kind of poetic irony in people becoming so convinced that the country was run by a cabal of child traffickers who wanted to take their guns away that they handed the country over to a cabal of child traffickers who want to take their guns away

It is 2006. Prime Minister Shinawatra has been removed from office.

It is 2014. Prime Minister Shinawatra has been removed from office.

It is 2025. Prime Minister Shinawatra has been removed from office.

This seems pretty self-explanatory seeing as how nobody got the real Holy Grail either.

I find it funny that, almost 40 years later, even journalists still can't get the title of her song right

But also, yeah, Enya is the wisest rich person

It's a website, Michael. How many people could it have? 170?

Besides everything else that's dumb about this, when I'm doing a lot of work is when I check my email the least! Like wtf does Elon even think work is?
OK honest question what is the root of this? Is this just how you think on drugs?

"Fails to pass measure" is a very kind way to describe a single guy on the Board of Supervisors failing to persuade even one other person

Was this post meant to be laser-targeted at bartenders? Most people are not driving to work at 5:55 pm on a Saturday
You’re driving to work.

Wait till Trump’s tariffs raise your gas prices.

This pitch for what makes Thunderbolts different was literally Joss Whedon's concept for the first Avengers movie

I'd like to see ol Donny Trump wriggle his way out of THIS jam!
“This does not seem like an unbeatable colossus at all. This seems like a pretty weak leader who is hemorrhaging political capital,” says @chrislhayes.bsky.social on Trump failing to secure his one demand in the spending fight.

I strongly suspect it's a filter on the output rather than a trained behavior. Like they just have a "if 'David Mayer' in gpt_output_line: raise LawsuitError()" in the API service
To be honest it’s pretty funny having seen what most people did trying to get GPT to say David Mayer and it’s wild how no matter the context, the name just causes it to quit.

I love how this is the exact same way "tweet" happened. People had been calling them "tweets" for over a year by the time Twitter officially adopted the term
in my capacity as a Bluesky employee, posts on Bluesky are called posts.

in my capacity as a human... LOL 💀

Where I live, most places have made their restrooms gender-neutral, but only as far as the signs — the insides are still clearly different. So now the restroom genders are "normal and well-maintained" and "disgusting and includes a urinal."

Schrodinger's Leftist: So irrelevant and ineffectual that saying what they think of a candidate's choices is a waste of time, but also so powerful that they can swing the outcome of the election just by saying what they think of a candidate's choices.

Matt Yglesias is center-left aside from his opposition to progressive positions on — to use his own list that he posted yesterday — "climate, guns, crime, race, immigration, LGBT issues, student debt, etc"
I am enjoying Bluesky but it’s weird the climate discourse here seems to assume Matt Yglesias is history’s greatest monster and not an excellent center-left pundit with heterodox fracking views, while the activist who protested him is a hero and not a joke character from the movie Metropolitan.

I can't wait for the game to come out and do great so the videogame bros have to make their backpedaling videos about how Erika Ishii is actually anti-woke
Wow honestly they could just ditch the whole Ghost thing and make a game about her she sounds like a god damn super hero.

Oh no, now all the Trump supporters who were pretending they were gonna vote for RFK will vote for Trump, this changes everything

Good luck convincing them to call themselves the H-Hive
Same.

Calling her by her first name undermines her authority which happens with women a lot, but especially WOC.

We didn’t call him Joe or call the other candidate Donald, we should call her Harris.
I’m going to refer to her as Harris. =

People mad at AOC for being like "I don't trust the elites not to ratfuck their own guy into the nom if Biden drops out" are so goofy to me. That is a completely legitimate concern! And it still looks likely that they will try something, what with Obama and Pelosi refusing to endorse Harris.
July 22, 2024 at 4:51 PM
He dropped out without endorsing anyone, so now the Democrats just... don't have any candidates. I can't help feeling like this is a worst-case scenario.

Everything else aside, the Luddites fucking rocked and were proven right by history and my only problem with being called a Luddite is that I am not worthy
there is a rhetorical bait and switch that occurs when software-driven systems are synonymized with "technology", because if you criticize their behaviour (orthogonal to any strictly technical concern) you get called a luddite (itself a deeply disingenuous manoeuvre)
