Honestly surprised it doesn't end with "Are there any other aspects of military discipline you'd like to learn about?"

Probably just like "important person funeral" and it assumed US because all these companies are American, and Americans only acknowledge other countries when they need someone to blame for a problem

It seems at least plausible. People these days just assume everything corporations make is a cheap and probably artificial substitute for whatever it claims to be. I recently had a conversation with a smart person who I have great respect for who was surprised to discover there is cheese in Cheetos.

Funnily enough, I'm pretty sure that's actually the name of their fan club

If Anthropic is not being granted a license and can't stop training on the works, couldn't the same parties just repeat the suit for every new version of the model?

No, it isn't. This platform is pull-based. Except when I'm replying to you, I am not pushing my posts at you. If I reply to somebody else "Whoa, that's cool!", there is no reasonable way to construe that as being aimed at you. You can read it if you want, but it's literally not directed at you.

There are levels of privacy and many of them apply in public spaces. For example, if you were having dinner at a restaurant with your SO, you would probably be annoyed if some boor came and sat down at your table to weigh in on whether your mother in law is being reasonable.

Too many variables before the primary to say. A lot of Dems seem to like him. But it doesn't particularly matter to my point, which is that asking people not to nominate Newsom only really makes sense before he is the nominee, so it is unreasonable to criticize somebody for saying it proactively.

Surely *before* a hopeful becomes the nominee is the right time to explain why you won't support them, so that the party can hopefully make the right choice when it comes time to nominate someone.

The medical community and LGBTQ activists have been providing evidence for 10+ years and The Atlantic's response was to just lie about it. It's unclear why you think "provide evidence" is a useful response.
Also, these lies are used as a pretext to stop gathering evidence (e.g. trans bans)

For all of history, the only thing we could talk to is people. There is nothing that would have prepared us for things that are absurdly good at generating realistic speech but have no mind. So people's instincts are wrong. It's like a pathogen that we have no natural defenses against.

Oh man, you're right, that is exactly what it's doing

That's the thing that gets me. He thinks it's finally telling him the truth, and that it understands what's going on, because it's saying what he expected to hear — but nope, still obvious lies! It just matched his energy

That would be more money than exists in the world
July 11, 2025 at 4:37 PM
Do you think so? The resist merch seems neutral to me. If some boogaloo boys wanted to cosplay far left extremists, that's exactly the sort of stuff I'd expect them to carry. We can't assume they are faking, but the details are so generic they're what I would expect from a fake.

You could just stick it behind Cloudflare. I doubt whether any blog platform offers much better protection than they do, and I know many offer much less.

Best guess I have is Bloomberg, though I don't know why he'd need Bill's help

This is definitely plan B. He had a new candidate he was excited to force into the race, but then his lawyers informed him there are, like, filing deadlines and stuff.

To be clear, the "nay" list in this screenshot are the ones who wanted impeachment proceedings. They were voting "nay" to setting it aside.

If your argument is that Biden should have stepped down way before he did and it's infuriating that he waited to for the party elites to pull the money lever, that's a valid point, but that's really not how your posts are coming across
