Russia can still sustain this war, but it can no longer scale it—and if Ukraine holds on without exhausting itself first, the breaking point will come.

THE WAR ON THE GREY TANKER FLEET IS A SUBTLE ONE
Russia has access to some 500 tankers, around 200 it owns directly while the rest are leased from various owners around the world who are happy to have Russian captains, multi-national crews and shabby old ships.

Russia still controls 0 out of the 23 regional capital and special status cities that Ukraine controlled at the start of the full-scale invasion. 0/23!

This explains why Trump is working around the clock to save Russia from humiliation

Norwegian Institute of International Affairs and Corisk did the math Europe's politicians haven't.

Arm Ukraine to win: €522-838 billion. Let Russia win and rearm Europe: €1.2-1.6 trillion—double the cost. Plus 6-11 million additional refugees.

Holy moly, do people still think the U.S. is an ally of Europe? It is now an officially stated foreign policy goal to undermine the EU and centrist European governments that don't ideologically align with MAGA.
Europeans are waking up this morning to find the new US National Security Strategy (quietly) released. And what it has to say on Europe could not be clearer. On the „stark prospect of civilizations erasure“ for example. 👇

The one year anniversary of Yoon's failed martial law takeover just passed and lots of untold stories came out proving that THE ONLY REASON KOREA IS STILL A FREE COUNTRY IS BECAUSE PEOPLE DISOBEYED ILLEGAL ORDERS.

The coup was over in hours because people said no.

Let’s be clear: these are extrajudicial killings. “Kill them all” Hegseth needs to be held accountable.

What’s more, Trump promised the American people no new wars but is now manufacturing this conflict & lying about his motives.

This warmongering has got to stop.

Made an effort to establish a timeline of this latest iteration of essentially the same old attempt by the Trump administration to force a peace deal, doomed to fail like the previous three times.

The number of plot twists would have been amusing, if it wasn’t so cruel to Ukraine.

This is not a peace plan. It is a proposal that weakens Ukraine and divides America from Europe, preparing the way for a larger war in the future. In the meantime, it benefits unnamed Russian and American investors, at the expense of everyone else.

Latest piece out in @theatlantic.com . Trump's "peace" plan for Ukraine, which he at this very moment trying to force on the country with threats and intimidation, is grotesque. The US president is admitting what too many refused to admit, he wants Putin to win. www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2025/1...

If you listened closely to Hegseth and Trump, they were saying that the US military should be more like the Russian military--unaccountable for its actions, using lethality in favor of intelligence, and where training can be used to abuse recruits.

Fun fact to add: In 1935 German Defense Minister Blomberg - the one who introduced the new oath of loyalty to Hitler renamed the German Defense Ministry… wait for it… the “Ministry of War”.
In 1935 German leadership called a surprise meeting and informed their previous oath to uphold the Weimar constitution was now void and they instead must swear a personal oath to the Führer. Many claimed they didn’t like the order, but they did it anyway.
