Image emerges of Jacinta Price wearing Maga cap – one day after she says Coalition will ‘make Australia great again’
Exclusive: Guardian Australia obtains social media photo of Northern Territory senator in a ‘Make America Great Again’ hat – as Nationals leader David Littleproud insists her use of slogan was ‘slip of the tongue’ * Election 2025 live updates: Australia federal election campaign * Polls tracker; election guide; full federal election coverage * Anywhere but Canberra; interactive electorates guide * Listen to the first episode of our new narrative podcast series: Gina * Get our afternoon election email, free app or daily news podcast Coalition politicians have continued to downplay Jacinta Nampijinpa Price’s apparent referencing of Donald Trump’s signature Make America Great Again slogan at an election rally, calling it a “slip of the tongue” even as images emerge of the shadow minister and her husband wearing Maga hats just months ago. The Nationals leader, David Littleproud, called it a “slip of the tongue” when Price, the shadow minister for government efficiency and Indigenous Australians, told a campaign rally she wanted to “make Australia great again” on Saturday. The senator later claimed she hadn’t “even realised” she made the comments, then accused the media of being “obsessed” with the US president. my take is that your willingness to accept this gulf of america nonsense is an indicator of your willingness to accept much worse things coming from this administrator
Trump’s decision to rename the Gulf of Mexico may be upsetting to some, writes @giladedelman.bsky.social, but “in a democracy, values are determined by majority rule, and they don’t shift in only one direction. They can shift back”:
‘The Gulf of America’ Is the Wrong Fight to Pick
The more that politicians mess around with place names, the more important it is to respond according to consistent principles.

For commentary on Dutton's nuclear policy, ABC News went to NewsCorp's Clare Armstrong! Srsly! Not a scientist, an energy costs expert or even ABC's Laura Tingle. They went to a staffer from one of Murdoch's tabloid trash propaganda rags. STOP PLATFORMING NEWSCORP! #auspol #JournalismMatters 😠

Today it's trans, tomorrow it's gay, the day after that it's "women who don't look fem enough to me" and "guys who talk about feelings."

It's about enforcing narrow gender roles. Always has been. If you participated in any of this, that's what you're endorsing.

So people are mad because Joe didn’t adhere to norms and traditions…a month and a half before a convicted felon with a Cabinet of rapists and criminals takes over and immediately pardons himself? I can’t wait to be sitting in federal prison knowing that at least Democrats respected proper decorum.

The gas lobby is rolling out more fearmongering about a gas "shortage".

Don't fall for the con job. It's a cover for them to justify opening up massive new export projects.

Australia exports 35 times more gas than any predicted shortage. #auspol

Authorised by me on behalf of the ASRC. It’s the ugly truth as of today after the Albanese Government betrayed multicultural communities overnight. A profoundly shameful display lacking in leadership from a party elected on a promise to be more fairer & compassionate on migration.

This Parliament has not passed bills addressing the homelessness and rental crises, and other cost of living issues.

But the major parties colluded this week on legislation increasing their own public funding, and making it harder for independents to be elected.

Priorities.

It’s weird being German these days. No one ever asks “how on earth could the Nazis have taken over” anymore.

I rather miss it.

Labor’s Social Media Ban for kids bill is a masterclass in incompetence.

The bill tells social media companies to take ‘reasonable steps’ to determine age without ever defining what that means.

That’s not governance, that’s a dereliction of duty.

Look at some of this mess.👇

Still flabbergasted over the deputy Liberal party leader so casually saying supporting the ongoing genocide in Gaza was necessary to ensure an ongoing relationship with the United States. Essentially that the deaths of thousands of children is OK because it'll make the US happy.

Shame on Labor MPs, now voting against scrutiny of, in their minister’s words: the biggest reform to electoral laws in 40years. It’s a deal between Labor and the Coalition at the expense of the Australian people #integrity #auspol

While the transparency part is long overdue, replacing political donors with taxpayer $ locks in the 2 party system. The ALP and LIB ‘electoral reform’ deal needs proper scrutiny- rushing it through threatens future political competition. #auspol #electoralreform
