I support Australia’s recognition of Palestinian statehood as part of a two-state solution.
There are challenges ahead & Hamas must play no ongoing role.
Like so many in Curtin, I call for a ceasefire, upholding international law, releasing hostages & distribution of aid. #auspol

Is there any good argument for allowing Australians to possess or distribute custom built AI tools to create child sex abuse material?
There are 34 of these tools - we must follow the UK and make it an offence to possess or distribute them.

Frank & fearless advice from Treasury is good news.
The need for tax reform is no surprise- we are happy to talk about tax cuts, but the money must come from somewhere.
We won’t meet the housing target - govt must focus on how to get there.

If 3/4 of AFL agents say gambling is a problem for their players, what hope do our kids have, who look up to them? Banning gambling ads would be a great first step to challenge the normalisation of gambling in sport. Now is the time. #auspol

I commend the govt for listening to calls for tax reform. I look forward to engaging across the political spectrum on this huge long term issue. Here’s my speech from last year about what needs to be done.#auspol www.youtube.com/watch?v=jbDU...

Before committing to any increase in defence spending, we need to make sure we are spending on the right things. The world is changing and we need to review whether AUKUS is our best bet. #auspol

WA used to be leaders in tobacco regulation but now we get a ‘D’. Our tobacco laws need a refresh to give authorities the power to shut down illegal vape shops & introduce tougher penalties that actually deter offenders. #acosh #tobaccolaws #WAlaws #vaping acosh.org/failing-the-...

My Fair and Transparent Elections Bill would make this dodgy practice illegal by removing political party exemptions to the Spam Act and the Privacy Act. But the parties blocked it. How can we rebuild trust in politicians when they do this? #auspol www.abc.net.au/news/2025-04...

The major parties agree on ~99% of the forward estimates. The only difference between them is the flavour of their sugar hits. Mr Dutton could be bold on tax reform, but instead we get $6b in debt-funded fuel excise cuts. We must drag the parties to tax reform. #auspol

Being granted $5/week next year for the extra tax you’re paying is better than nothing, but if we indexed tax brackets (like other countries) your average tax rate wouldn’t go up every year. Let’s fix it for good. Neither major party wants to do it, but it makes sense. #auspol

Energy plan? What energy plan? Peter Dutton wants to override scrutiny on major projects, reverse the support we need to build our future energy sector and waste billions of taxpayer dollars on his nuclear fantasy.

It’s not OK that 80% of Perth rentals would put the average-earning household into housing stress. We need serious housing reform now - more houses built and better protection for renters so everyone can live affordably. t.co/1oStg57od9

So-called ‘electoral reform’ has been pushed through the House this morning - debate on the major party stitch-up was gagged - both parties terrified of any scrutiny. They are losing public support so changing the rules to prevent future competition. A sad day for Australian democracy. #auspol

About time! There’s so much opportunity for WA to prosper in a decarbonising world and production tax credits will kickstart and derisk our transition. After much prompting, we now have the legislation passed. Now we just need to implement it. Let’s go WA. #auspol
