I’ve literally heard this before, actors being called brats when they advocated for being paid overtime, etc.
It also makes you wonder a bit about the “stage parent” archetype. There ARE many terrible showbiz parents, but how many were just labeled “difficult” for advocating for their own kids?

I always assumed that the brat stereotype was something cultivated by directors in studio heads to dissuade child actors from making reasonable demands or advocating for themselves.

Not to be too vulnerable on main, but I think what is really upsetting and ultimately hurtful to me about the Stancil stuff is that a lot of us (especially women) have put in a ton of work slowly, unglamorously trying to build the sorts of organizing frameworks that made his adventurism possible.
