Can regenerative agriculture save coffee? It is much lauded by corporations as the latest solution to the climate crisis, despite farmers practising the same techniques for generations.

So is regenerative agriculture anything more than yet another corporate sustainability slogan? #CoffeeSky
Regenerative Agriculture: Climate Solution or Yet More Coffeewashing?
As the climate crisis intensifies, regenerative agriculture could play a key role in sustaining and strengthening the global coffee industry. That is, if it can escape becoming just another corporate ...

Lol, incredible stuff.
A reporter asks if Mamdani stands by calling Trump a fascist. Mamdani starts to give a delicate answer.

Trump (smiles, pats Mamdani's arm): "That's OK, you can just say yes. It's easier. I don't mind."

Not the point, but the way Independent articles show up on Bluesky—the title just repeated three times—is very amusing to me for some reason.

I don't really know if this counts as a scoop or not, but I haven't seen it published anywhere else and it seems like a pretty big deal to me.

It gives an advantage to a small group of rich farmers, who can now brand their coffee as "real" and "certified".
This year’s Best of Panama coffee auction was the most expensive ever, and was once again dominated by the gesha variety that put Panamanian coffee on the map. Now, the country’s coffee association is seeking to brand and trademark its most valuable asset. #CoffeeSky

It’s widely known (and, I think, pretty uncontroversial) that learning requires effort — specifically, if you don’t have to work at getting the knowledge, it won’t stick.

Even if an LLM could be trusted to give you correct information 100% of the time, it would be an inferior method of learning it.
Relying on ChatGPT to teach you about a topic leaves you with shallower knowledge than Googling and reading about it, according to new research that compared what more than 10,000 people knew after using one method or the other.

OK tonight I learned that Gaspar Noe brought Dario Argento as his +1 to meet the Pope, and this is possibly the sweetest and the maddest thing to ever happen.
The Pope got to meet Dario Argento! I wonder which of the Three Mothers trilogy is Leo's fav, I'm gonna say Inferno, cos this Pope doesn't seem like a Suspiria kinda guy.
The Pope welcomed a number of Hollywood film stars to the Vatican, where he called cinema a "vehicle of hope".

More than 100 film industry professionals were received at the Apostolic Palace, including Cate Blanchett, Alison Brie and Viggo Mortensen.

Funny that we got a bunch of articles a few months ago about a report showing Gen Z were swapping alcohol for coffee, sponsored by Keurig Dr Pepper, but now a new study finds the opposite. I wonder who could have sponsored this one...

Going to keep mentioning Qobuz as a streaming alternative. Far better pay for artists and better sound quality too.
Cancel your Spotify subscription until the ICE ads stop. There are other streaming options that don’t profit from exploiting artists while recruiting for ICE: indivisible.org/cancel-spotify?source=bluesky

I hate how every nation is living down to its stereotype because I’m trained to look for complexity in things, yet the USA is run by a caricature of crony capitalism that Soviet propaganda would consider too unsubtle, Russia is run by a Bond villain, the UK is speedrunning Children of Men, etc.

I tend to think about ghosts like Pratchett's witches think about gods, I don't go around believing in them, that would just encourage them, but I'm inclined to at least tiptoe around their possibility whenever I find myself somewhere that doesn't quite feel like it belongs to the living anymore
do you believe in ghosts or are you like me, a person who finds themself saying all the time “I absolutely don’t believe in ghosts, but this place has ghosts.”
