As a volunteer leader with a similar organisation, the trustees don’t get paid to sit on the board but they have jobs. Good ones too, some of them. And what is the point of Guiding as a youth movement with a legacy since 1910 if we don’t stand up for something…(1)

Sally Rooney's books may be pulled off UK shelves due to her support for Palestine Action group
The author said it was “unclear” whether any UK company can make payments to her.

+1 to this rec. Crohns means I use the bathroom more than most & I have a dog & I’m immune suppressed so handwashing happens a lot. Vaseline intensive care Advanced Repair is also excellent. Lightweight, absorbs quickly. Stops that dry & sore feeling on your hands.
If you are cooking Thanksgiving dinner, you are going to be washing your hands even more than usual and that can dry out your pretty paws. I am a BIG fan of Neutrogena Norwegian formula hand cream. Am I a "brand ambassador"? No. I am a lady who spent years in jobs that dried out my hands.

This morning I saw a charge on my debit card & had a OMG HACKED! moment. Then I looked properly & saw my Kobo preorder of SECOND CHANCE ROMANCE had arrived. I love when I forget what date an ebook is due out!
SECOND CHANCE ROMANCE is warm, cozy, & out today. I hope you love it! 💗

And you know after 30+ yrs I wouldn’t want one of my dead father either. B/c it wouldn’t be him, just this bastardised poor approximation. And our deceased deserve better than that.
For real, check this out. Evil.

I loved my grandmother, cared for her in her final years but I’d leap into a bin & refuse to come out if presented with an AI version of her. The real life one was more than enough to contend with. She was hardcore to the VERY end.
For real, check this out. Evil.

NYT excels in breathless gushing articles about these kind of women. This publishing house (who I’ve heard of before) reminds me of Goop but with romance to give you Wellness instead of things to put in your hoo-hah. Being wealthy & thinking you’re avant garde & a revolutionary force must be great.
What a grift! In addition to basically being like when tech bros reinvent the damn bus every three years, it's also like they read one romance book and thought, you know what would make this better? An exit through the gift shop where we can scam you for exorbitantly priced merch.
I’ll say this much: This reads exactly like what it is: people who discovered romance five years ago and decided they had all kinds of amazing new ideas to “fix” it. Connections between books? That feel kind of cozy to the reader? How did no one ever think of that?? www.nytimes.com/2025/11/13/b...

All events, concerts, plays, exhibitions should be organised with disabilities, visible or invisible in mind. As should the venues.

Also, getting married or cohabitating shouldn’t mean that a person loses disability benefits.
"my least woke opinion is---"

That's enough. We've had enough people indulging in the "thrill of a little conservatism", as a treat. Of considering reactionary thought to be a salacious and taboo in a world descending into reactionary mania.

Give me your MOST woke opinions. We're bringing it back.

New builds of homes/offices, apartments, churches, and everything else should be designed specifically for accommodating disabilities, visible & invisible. It should be the norm not an expensive add on after the fact. This benefits EVERYONE regardless of health/mobility

No I just hate YOUR* art if it’s made by AI. and you know what? I hate you too if you use AI for things that mean you don’t think or wonder or research or create for yourself.

*not directed at OP or Leslie. Just people in general who use AI. I’m intolerant of AI the way some are Lactose & LGBTQ+

The mother is a longtime Bond fan. Had she been born later she’d be a true Stan. You put a guy on screen in a snappy suit with gadgets & espionage saying I’m James Bond, & she’ll go “Hell yeah! Fuck up those bad guys you handsome son of a bitch!” She won’t care that he blew himself up last time

On this, the last day of Michael D. Higgins' presidency, I think it's important to acknowledge that a 5'3 man deciding to be followed everywhere by two enormous Bernese Mountain dogs was a great bit.

Spring 2021 I was reaching my limit mentally. So I borrowed spirit from this album to keep me going. How I Got Over was a kind of touchstone to keep me moving & committed
I don’t go to church any more but when that feeling comes down, I listen to Aretha Franklin’s Amazing Grace album and that’s all I need 🙌🏾

I took my youth group to that mosque earlier this year as part of our global citizenship programme. We were heartily welcomed & shown around & they broke their Ramadan fast with us that evening. It was lovely.
THIS is when TPTB don’t come down on far right racists & want to hear both sides.
One of the accused needed an interpreter and the other is from Down with no ties to the 26 counties and lives with two young daughters. Plotted to bomb a mosque in Galway, video recorded with a manifesto. This is where we are, terrifying!

There’s a lot I don’t know but I know my bread, and that’s some real nice toasting bread there. With a fine crust.

(My 1st solo outing post stoma surgery & me still not fully over it was to the supermarket down the road b/c I wanted bread. Came home, made myself a ham sandwich. I was so happy!)

This has all been giving me Northern Ireland during the Troubles vibes for a while now and I genuinely worry for all the people whose cities are invaded by this force.

Now I’m moving into an older demographic, I’m trying to bring this back. I can see why Momo would be so snarky with us b/c the Youth* do talk some awful rubbish.

*these days anyone younger than me I consider the Youth. But theres some aul lads out there too who need to told to get stuffed
“We need to respect the opinions of everybody who spoiled their vote”
Actually I think you’ll find that they spoiled their vote because we’ve lost the ancient art of telling people to cop on for themselves when they’re talking shite

“MOISTURIZED BUT BOTHERED, WITH WIND BLOWN HAIR.”

This pretty much sums up Galway living this time of year. Well for me anyway.

My mother walked in & declared Niall Tóibín a disgrace for spoiling his vote. When pressed as to whether she really meant the deceased Irish national treasure/entertainer & did she mea perhaps Peadar Tobín, leader of Aontu & national menace instead, she replied yes to the latter…

In 2013 I went on an intl trip with girl guides aged 13-15. I brought my count of Monte cristo book as something to dip into during free time. It’s a fave. One of the girls saw me reading, clocked the size of it & asked “are you reading this for school?” (I was an adult leader)…

It’s 5 yrs since we had to have Brownie meetings outside and while playing a musical statues game to ABBA, one of the girls said “isn’t this song like 80 years old?” And I felt a punch to my spirit that made a Covid pandemic seem immaterial in that moment.
