I have a problem with the notion that an IT show or an Alien show is actually good, and that problem is I don't wanna watch a show. At the end of the day I've seen a version of these things that works in two hours, so getting me onboard for eight isn't happening.

The fact that the studios can't crack this extremely simply problem tells me that their years-long project--create an audience that can't use their imaginations--has backfired severely.
