So whoopee - they'll get 50 per cent of their hourly rate for the time they're required to put in before wheels up and after wheels down. And it will take ANOTHER TEN YEARS at 5%/yr to make up the rest of their hourly wage.

In 2007, I think, the Air Canada union accepted a huge $10k CAD paycut to save the airline and they were told it was to be reversed upon profitability. Now they’re wondering how much longer they have to wait when prices keep rising.

When I became a Senator, I started flying a lot. Back and forth from Edmonton to Ottawa - not to mention flights to conferences and events. I had never before understood the archaic way that flight attendants are paid. The clock only starts when the airplane door closes. 🧵
