My keeper for the day: "Fascists don't deliver tax cuts, only misery."
Remember that when some electoral candidate is offering to cut your taxes.
Taxes are a way for all of us to get 'volume discounts' on health care/transportation systems/education/infrastructure.
You want that cut?
Wait until they’re disappeared.

Conservatives always find out too late that fascists don’t deliver tax cuts, only misery.

REID: "The President of the United States is a colicky baby. And now Mark Carney and the whole country has to face that constant decision: Do we pick him up and walk him around and make soothing sounds? Or do we let him lay in his crib and cry it out?"

One of the most distinctive flags in the world.
In my biased, prejudiced opinion - THE most distinctive flag in the world.
Simple red and white shows up against the sky.
HAPPY FLAG DAY, everyone!

@mitchellab.bsky.social Searching for numbers of voters that gave UCP gov in 2023 b/c of FPTP.
I thought I read somewhere that in the ENTIRE province there were less than 5000 votes that put her there b/c some constituencies were won by 100/less than 100 votes. Maybe less than 5K? Any recollection?

There is a certain faction of society that believes you can't call someone a Nazi until they have killed at least 6 million Jews, and that someone isn't a racist unless they've burned a cross while wearing a white hood.

THIS!
That slavery made the day a human being took their first breath unimportant.
AB's prominent & successful cowboy, John Ware has no birthday/birthYEAR stated.
Born a slave/no official records show his birth.
Yet some insist we stay ignorant w no need to show how little respect we had for others.
Happy Birthday to Frederick Douglass who didn’t know his birthday because he was born into slavery so he chose February 14 as his birthday.

Real Q: Was she herself churning out multitudes of books or had she a writers' stable punching out generalities while she filled here&there?
723 published +160 unpublished within, say 80 yrs of writing seems ambitious considering a bon vivant social calendar.

The Supreme Court of Canada no longer posts in X. Same for the Royal Society of Canada, the Canadian Medical Association, and so many other national organizations. It would be great to see the federal, provincial, and territorial governments do the same.

The Olympic curling 'Cdn double touch' scandal, complete with F-bombs, is fascinating! The game has sure changed. I remember back in our small town Saskatchewan curling club, the only scandal of this size was that there weren't enough cup holders along the ice for everyone's rye & coke lol #curling

Everyone in the world comes to get married at the NYC Marriage Bureau. Last week, the Mayor stopped by to officiate a few of those ceremonies.

Thank you to all the couples who shared their joy with us. Happy Valentine's Day, New York.

….2 making anything that our girls inherit from us is NOT to be counted as part of their ‘marriage asset’. So if they sadly went through a divorce, whatever they got from us was NOT to be counted. In ON, it is automatically 50/50 split of assets. A good clause for parents to consider!

Its why they need constant tax cuts and subsidies because they could not business their way out of a fucking parking lot puddle.

Bondi suggests Culver City has a Crime Problem.
So if the US decides it has a Bondi Problem, do they get to send security units in to manacle her and put her in a warehouse for an interminable period of time?
The attorney general’s viral remarks befuddled many Angelenos, who know Culver City for its Hollywood history and chill vibes. From NYT National. Gift link:

For many years the prevailing debate about the Maya centred upon why their civilisation collapsed. Now, many scholars are asking: how did the Maya survive?
