My keeper for the day: "Fascists don't deliver tax cuts, only misery."
Remember that when some electoral candidate is offering to cut your taxes.
Taxes are a way for all of us to get 'volume discounts' on health care/transportation systems/education/infrastructure.
You want that cut?
Wait until they’re disappeared.

Conservatives always find out too late that fascists don’t deliver tax cuts, only misery.
‪Anyone else tired of seeing that Norman Rockwell image of the lone yacker standing up w everyone else in the gathering staring at him?
Mostly used now for mundane irritations.
What a comedown for something that once actually had meaning & purpose.
Silly uses of it by strangers ▶️muting.

Behold, the rare and powerful Andara Crystal!

Wait… Never mind. It’s a lump of cullet glass, material left over from the glass manufacturing process. Still pretty and pretty neat though. A bud at Bismarck Antique Mall had a box of them and I picked out this cobalt-y one for myself.

But WE populists want to think ourselves 'exceptional' & 'superior'.
Damned voters insist on social egalitarianism.
They won't vote for ldrs who insist on populist exceptionalism, fight fight fight, and 'all about me me me'.
We can't WIN elections b/c of voters who AREN'T SELFISH.
Damn them!

His name is in there repeatedly, isn't it.
I don't want to hear a conservative talk about the "rule of law" ever again.

I hadn't even heard that the Trump TWers were organizing a different half time show.
First Q always is: Who's making a $ out of it?
I'll just go ahead and leave this here.

And I was told by my HS English teachers that I used run on sentences too frequently.

This was the CBC in Canada. What did NBC do, I wonder?
J.D. Vance was booed so badly at the Winter Olympics Opening Ceremony that even the announcers commented on it.

“There is the Vice President J.D. Vance and his wife Usha—OOP, those are not… uh… those are a lot of boos for him. Whistling, jeering, some applause.”

Someone tell Chantel that the "resounding 87%" vote Pierre earned... Needs clarity.
She knows it.

There are approx 5k members, of that only 2400 turned out to vote. From that amount, over 300--refused to vote.

All of sudden, Chantel.
It's not the win you implied to Canadians, it was.

Child: My favorite one is a gold snake that can move. It has gold eyes, and it has a super-duper tail…

Reporter: Mr. Mamdani, the second question for you.

Mamdani: Yes. It’s also the golden snake."

I mean, what is going to happen during Stampede this year?

It can make stunningly good espresso. I expected that it would be *okay* but that secretly I'd be experiencing buyers remorse. After one failed practice shot, I've pretty consistently made better coffee than in most cafes here — & I bought this thing used for a song. Zero regrets.

No joke: I got angry hate mail today for writing an obituary of a Black woman scientist—because the person felt she did didn’t deserve the recognition.

Which just makes me want to share it again: www.nature.com/articles/d41...
Gladys Mae West obituary: mathematician who pioneered GPS technology
She made key contributions to US cold-war science despite facing huge barriers as a Black woman.
