I had no knowledge of carving bodhi nuts so I went down the rabbit hole.
One site posted this and now I've even more questions . . .
Info on Bodhi nut carving: Wipe with a soft cotton cloth for 2–3 weeks before direct contact. Keep hands clean and dry; gentle rubbing for 1 hour daily promotes patina. Avoid sunlight, heat, and moisture; store in a sealed bag with a damp cotton ball during dry seasons. Each Buddhabelief Guardian Deity Bodhi Ivory Nut Carving takes 7 days to craft and is limited to 50 pieces per month. Admittedly after reading this, tho maybe translated from another language - I have questions . . .

It was the image below that I noticed on BlueSky when I was replying to you that struck me - it seemed that the bird wasn't as close to the center but further left and more like the 'Rule of Thirds'???
Curious how photographers 'guts' help them edit their photos to make them pleasing to their eyes.
Copy of the BlueSky 'Reply to. . . ' image of a post of a bluebird by the acct 'Abandoned Alberta'. It seems to show the bluebird more to the left third of the image rather than it being closer to the centre. I was struck how much I liked the bluebird being shown closer to the left, making use of 'The Rule of Thirds' that photographers often use.

How firm are you on 'do not post prices on the site'.

I'd hate to see this become 'just another place to sell crafts/art'.

Thanks to Kate Gunn last year, I now can describe ppl like us as 'Chinophiles'.
Kate Gunn posted a wintery image of evergreen trees in a snowy landscape in #ArtAdventCalendar 2024. A sidewalk has been cleared in front of the trees. Blue sky above with scattered white clouds that parallel the white snow on the bottom of the image. She points out 'Chinophile' is a name for those of us who enjoy winters and the images we can collect for part of the year.

Socks by Heidi Nick. Intricate & complex pattern. Warm yellow/beige/oatmeal colour is simple enough it displays the patterns of the socks themselves. I'd NEVER hide these socks under full boots/shoes.

Whether the concept was to snark about AI data centre energy usage or not, Stelmach DOES nail it. Data centres use too much energy/too much water.
Let areas with an overabundance of water take those centres.
"If climate change is the biggest worry, why are we permitting AI data centres? The power usage is going to dwarf any conservation plans."

I know what I'll be reading about today.

She also helped raise my mom and her 15 siblings. Her recipes are always made to have some to give away. This is an ancient, very humble coffee cake. ‪ TV preachers like Swaggert and Baker took her social security. Someone in our family was always living in her attic and we all just hung out with her and visited and took care of her until she died at 101. This recipe might be over 160 years old. It’s not overly sweet. Butter and coffee amplify it.

And, inspire compassion and gratitude for NOT dying that year. I remember "The Little Matchgirl". Our teacher read it to us during the Vietnam war era. About the same time as the little girl who was napalmed appeared in Life Mag, so none of us ‪Don't Ask, Won't Tell‬ ‪@melissawoodruff.bsky.social‬ · 13h were surprised by the tragic consequences of being a child and having horrific life. Not much has changed.

And our municipalities have no choice but to include it in our 'city tax' bill?
In Alberta's 2025 budget, the provincial requisition for Calgary jumped by 17.5%. Then-councillor Peter Demong called it "the most egregious situation I’ve ever come across." "We get raked over the coals for months on end on a three-and-a-half to 5% property tax increase," Demong said at the time. "The province, within a day, with no consultation, increases by over 17%—and we don't hear a single comment from any media opinion piece."

This year he heard thru the grapevine that only THREE Canadians showed up at the show.
Well done, Canucks!
