I say it all the time:

FUNCTIONAL LITERACY IS NOT THE SAME AS AN ABILITY TO WRITE.

People who don't understand this will never be any good as fiction writers.

At least she went for the "clean" water jar, rather than the "wash" or "rinse" jars.

answer is great but also it's telling that the guy who's been saying this since day 1 has to answer about whether he's an antisemite for 5 min every interview while the same people grin vacantly at the jewish space lasers lady and call her a brave warrior
WELKER: What is your message to Jewish New Yorkers who feel you won't be tough enough in your response to antisemitism?

MAMDANI: That I am looking forward to being the next mayor and fulfilling the commitment I've made to Jewish New Yorkers to not only protect them but to celebrate and cherish them

Italian researchers did a study where they looked at whether more people would give up their seat on a train for a pregnant passenger if Batman were present.

The answer is yes. People are more likely to engage in prosocial behavior when Batman’s around.

Now. How do we apply this to vaccination?
Unexpected events and prosocial behavior: the Batman effect
Prosocial behavior, the act of helping others, is essential to social life, yet spontaneous environmental triggers for such behavior remain underexplored. This study tested whether an unexpected event, such as the presence of a person dressed as ...

A video! Note: these were swatched on cellulose hot press and they still got this kind of granulation. Imagine them on cold press cotton?

Dear self: Can you afford to buy every single-pigment #watercolor available?

Me: Can I afford NOT to?

(Note: I'm not trying to duplicate things; I really only need one PV23, but I had to buy PV37 also!)

*shakes fist at Schminke, the only guys making a PV62 single-pigment*

In the US, Catholic sisters return Wisconsin land to Ojibwe tribe in a historic first. The Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration have transferred a lakefront property to the Lac du Flambeau Band of Lake Superior Chippewa for the same $30,000 they paid in 1966.

For the first time, Catholic sisters return land to a Tribal nation
"This return represents more than the restoration of land — it is the restoration of balance, dignity, and our sacred connection to the places our ancestors once walked."

I love this line: if we restored the famous tower of Pisa to a fully upright position, "then it wouldn't be itself."

It's simple and true and beautiful. We love it because it leans. It wouldn't be its own special self if it didn't.
Now we have the capacity today to have restored it to a completely upright position, as it was built! But then it wouldn’t be itself. So they stabilised it to a lean of 3.97 degrees instead.

This supposed traditional artist and musician followed me. Despite having an explicit "fuck ai" in his bio, something about him set off my bullshit detector.

So, I checked out his Bandcamp. Over 70 albums and EPs, all done since March of this year.

Come on, man, at least be subtle about it.

So remember how we banned smoking in restaurants because we realized second hand smoking was really harmful and decided as a society that one person’s convenience shouldn’t outweigh everyone else’s right to clean healthy air that won’t hurt them?

When did that change?
