After ICE did this in Illinois, the Secretary of State revoked the plates, sent a cease and desist to ICE, threatened to suspend rental car licenses for allowing ICE to swap plates and set up a tip hotline to report plate tampering.

MN deserves the same action.

Mayor Frey says he is already planning to veto this. A bare minimum policy.

This is in addition to his refusal to implement emergency housing vouchers & the expansion of stable homes stable schools earlier this year.

There’s no plan and no will to implement solutions that are funded.

I keep this near my desk and have referred to it a lot over the last year: How to Rest and Recover While You Fight for Social Change
How to Rest & Recover While You Fight for Social Change: Manageable resting strategies to maintain your energy, connection, and motivation. If you're hypervigilant (Non-stop scrolling, Looking over your shoulder) try this: Set a timer and put your phone away for the duration. The information will be there when you get back. What textures and elements make you feel comfortable and protected? (Your bedroom may already be set-up this way) Create a safety corner in your home. If you're in a safe space: Affirm that your vigilance is there to protect you, but that you are allowed to let your guard down for a little bit. Ask a friend to check-in on you once per day. If you feel alone (Unsupported, Not a member of a team) try this: Start an action-oriented group chat with a trusted circle. Research local organizing efforts and reach out to learn how you can get involved. Attend a skill building webinar to expand your activist skillset. If you feel numb (Disconnected, Emotions locked behind a wall) try this: Affirm that you're holding your (valid) feelings at bay to protect yourself. Affirm that feeling your emotions is a form of protection too. Try journaling what you're seeing, hearing, experiencing, and how you're reacting (or not) to it. Ground yourself in physical sensations. Take a hot or cold shower, drink cold water, or do small exercises. Physical connection can unlock your emotional connection. Turn to something that typically brings you catharsis. If you feel overstimulated (Buzzy, Sensitive, Retreating) try this: Set a timer and lay down in a cool, darkened room. Selectively turn your tech on/off, including non-essential push notifications. Drink cold water and pay close attention to how it feels as you drink it. Focus your muscle groups. Squeeze your hands tightly together, Tighten your toes, feet, and legs. Release. Repeat. If your heart won't stop racing (Out of breath, Overly warm, Flickering) try this: Drink a full glass of water. Eat a protein-rich snack. Listen to low-tempo, soft music. Hold hands with someone you care about. Try a measured breathing exercise (in for 4, hold for 4, out for 8, repeat). If you feel hopeless (Disempowered, Pointless, Incapable) try this: Listen to a podcast episode where someone fights for change. Read a bit of a book that focuses on social change. Context and share with a trusted friend or accountability partner. Take one small action (donation, signing a petition, or dropping water/supplies off at a protest site) If you feel stuck in place (Frozen, Indecisive, Overwhelmed) try this: Practice a physical grounding exercise (drink cold water, name your surroundings and how they fell, breathing exercises). Do 10-15 minutes of exercise to get your body moving. Create a manageable to-do list with normal tasks & activist tasks. Find an accountability partner and create a check-in and support system. I totally feel this about baby vaccines too. My little guy gets so cranky and feverish after his shots. It genuinely wrecks a weekend. A part of the problem leading to the anti-vax movement is lack of access to sick time and doctors insisting that side effects don’t happen.
