In a horrifying article about the dangers of Teslas, one point stands out: Teslas automatically disengage self-driving mode <1 second before an imminent crash--not enough time for the driver to react, but enough for Tesla to deny responsibility for fatal crashes, since self-driving "wasn't engaged."

The vampire has been about many things in many cultures, anxieties about infection/blood, sex, death, and the power of women’s bodies (the yakshi in Kerala, for eg), but in modern societies there is truly no more vampiric an entity than the billionaire seeking power, longevity and even more wealth
You can understand how people in different cultures independently came up with the idea of vampires, of things that look like humans but exist only to consume humans in order to extend their unnatural lives.

We must not leave this out of the account of what they have done. What Musk and Trump and Vought did. What Johnson and his band of sycophants allowed them to do. What tens of millions of fellow Americans endorse.

Once again I beg of people to pause and look around and realize that it's basically only because of the lawyers and the law that Trump has faced any meaningful opposition to his agenda.

Obviously "the law will not save us" but actually thanks to lawyers a TON of damage has been prevented.

It's about damn time that health care became a primary issue.
For a decade, Trump has failed to even develop a plan.
Many, many Americans have frustrating experiences with the system. Even if they can afford medical care, they're often confounded by the bills.
Democrats, push this issue hard!

1/ If Justice Barrett thinks we need to go back to what the Founding Fathers intended, I’ve got news for her. Their biggest concern was avoiding tyranny. So they created 3 branches of gov’t & divvied up the power the people (that’s us) were allowing the gov’t to use to create order for all of us.

Trump has increasingly usurped the power of Congress. If there were ever a time for the legislative branch to stand up for itself, now would be the time.

Congress needs to step up and do its job. Kudos to Bernie.
Tonight, I introduced legislation to stop Trump from from leading us into an illegal war with Iran.

Another war in the Middle East could cost countless lives, waste trillions more dollars, and lead to even more deaths, more conflict, and more displacement.

But too many people haven’t heard about it.

New in PN: Judge rules that anti-woke is just racism

“'I’ve never seen a record where racial discrimination was so palpable,' Judge Young fumed. 'I’ve sat on this bench now for 40 years. I’ve never seen government racial discrimination like this.'

*More of this, please*"

Would love to have reporters dig into this incident, which is reminiscent of the Portland arrests of protesters in black vans.

My additional question: did these black vans even have government plates?
WE HAVE QUESTIONS…

This is a kidnapping. No uniform, no badge, civilian car. Who are they?

ICE? Sanctioned bounty hunters? Either way, they’re grabbing people without warrants.

How often is this happening, and why aren’t more people talking about it? Congress?

This is unfathomably shameful. How do we even have to debate this? Why would anyone ever again be so foolish as to trust or help the United States if this is how we treat people who risk their lives on our behalf?
An Afghan man who worked as a translator for the U.S. military during the war was detained by ICE after showing up for a hearing inside of a federal courthouse in San Diego, his attorney says. He fears that if he returns to Afghanistan, he would be tortured or even killed, @nbcsandiego.com reports.

I know there’s a lot going on right now but don’t lose sight of the escalating conflict in the Middle East. This is serious, not just regional posturing. It has the potential to affect us almost as much as anything happening here at home. And this inept administration is clueless how to handle it.

This is a big move against accreditors. Expect more to come, as this is a sly way to strip federal financial aid from colleges.
ED has reported to Columbia's accreditor that it "violated" anti-discrimination laws and thus has not met accreditation standards. This is the feds telling an accreditor that they should punish a uni because ED wants them to.

The iron triangle is in such danger...
