yeah- as someone who was doing their PhD at the height of the pandemic, many of us already had substantial disruption to deal with. now that cohort is junior faculty, and being hit with an even bigger one. if we all have to bail, that missing cohort will have ripple effects for decades
I've seen folks talk about how "in four years" they'll be able to get back to their planned projects and I really don't think that's going to work out. People & projects losing funding now will not be able to hit pause and come back once funding is restored. Hard-won progress & capacity will be lost
I worry that not enough of a big deal is being made about how long-term the devastation of these budget cuts to our scientific and health agencies will be, beyond the absolute ruin they will cause in the acute period.

We deserve better than to live in a society that removes any kind of history over “improper ideology.”
These are real people who died violently and they’re being erased because someone doesn’t like being reminded that guns are deadly? Even pro-gun folks must acknowledge a need for responsibility.

I think it would be a good idea to listen to Germany about right wing extremism. It was kind of a big problem for them.

In case anyone is wondering, the recent US report on gender flies in the face of the recommendations of every major medical organization in the country (AACAP, AAP, AES, AMA, and so on) and is nothing more than politics masquerading as science. The whole country deserves better.
