Important thread with examples showing that this country has been teetering on the brink of fascism for a long time. Notice the percent of American adults that thought Nixon had been treated unfairly even after he resigned in disgrace: 30%. It's about the same percentage as the die-hard Trump cult.
It's worth remembering that even AFTER Nixon resigned, roughly 30% of Americans thought he'd been treated very unfairly and was the victim of a left wing "witch hunt" coordinated by Democrats and a liberal media who hated the "real Americans" in the "silent majority." bsky.app/profile/seth...
Flashback to June of 1974 when a New York Times reporter went to an almost entirely white, upper-middle class retirement community in Orange County, Ca to see what folks thought of the ongoing investigation of Nixon. What they heard might ring some bells.

Mainers using their “from away” radar for good.
This is happening! An NH friend of mine lives just across the river from Maine and works over there sometimes. He said the locals are already picking out ICE agents at restaurants and bars, on the streets and at stores to berate them and run them off. Mariners will just say people are "from away"
Hey, let’s go to Maine in the dead of winter, a time of year that certainly won’t make us more recognizable to a populace that has the ability to spot an out-of-stater from 500 yards away.

This is the time to start telling America what you'd be doing with the $170 billion Republicans want to spend on terrorizing Americans, kidnapping neighbors, and filling concentration camps.

Whatever issue you're for, your constituents will want much more than that.

ICE shouldn't be allowed to retreat to some safer zone. There is no appropriate place for them. Every ICE employee should be charged with crimes against humanity, same for every member of the Trump administration. Nothing else is good enough. "ICE out" means "out of existence."

On NPR on Friday, there was a story of a 4-year-old--an American citizen--who hasn't left her house since early December, not even to play in the yard. And her 8-year-old brother recently stopped going to school, too. Their father is undocumented, and the family doesn't want to risk him being taken.

Out of the last 7,200 Olympic medals awarded since 2003 a total of zero have been won by a trans woman athlete.

The best a trans woman has placed was an archery competitor & she came 37th. The only other one came absolutely dead last.

Trans women are athletes disadvantaged!

The goal is to terrorize federal workers into quitting. That’s it. Constant changes. Canceling work from home then closing offices. Laying off probationary employees. It’s designed to break the government. Then privatize it for profit. It’s not efficiency. It’s collapse. Only peasants will suffer.

None of us can be sure what will “work.” You try multiple things and find your way in. Read some histories of the Civil Rights Movement by those who participated. They were never “sure” of what would work. Some campaigns fizzled out. But persistence, creativity, determination, and focus were key.
