Nick is a good dude and this is an excellent read.
"History also can be used as a force against advocacy, or, put another way, to advocate for the status quo."
When Is History Advocacy?
Advocacy should not be a dirty word.

Take a moment to breathe in the air of resistance and community.

And relish it.

It’s ours.
And it matters.

I did not actually need my field guide to American Houses to be able to definitively say that this house is not Georgian Architecture.

Or post-medieval English colonial vernacular.

Or 18th century in general.

I am currently organizing the articles I've written, and I just discovered they have been changed without my consent because I dared to include "trans" in my work.

I know they are technically the NPS's intellectual property, but other rangers were at least given a say in what happens to their work.

Shouting to the void, but I feel like I’m going mad for thinking “Friday was the NPS purge. Looks like today is the National Archives. I wonder who’s getting purged next.”

I feel like I’m living at the start of every dystopian piece of media ever written where this is just a casual thought to have.

Breaking — All probationary employees at OPM were just fired in a mass phone call.

Acting Director Chuck Ezell told staffers, "I encourage you to use this as an opportunity for your next step forward," per recording I reviewed.

On site staffers were given less than an hour to leave.

The Stonewall Inn released a response to the National Parks Service removing the word transgender from the park outside of the Inn. A great reminder that we have to look after each other

With everything happening in the NPS right now, I really didn’t think I could get more upset. But a project I worked on that meant the world to me was quietly deleted to follow the orders of the fascists in power. So much of this was already personal, but this is on another level.

The Stonewall Riots happened because trans people, particularly of color, rose up against state violence. You can’t even begin to tell the story without our trans ancestors and elders. www.nytimes.com/2025/02/13/n...

They removed "transgender" from the page about Trans woman Sylvia Rivera's page at the National Park service.

It’s important to know that a lot of productive activity is happening in person and offline, too.

Not all of it can be broadcast online, but we’ve had hundreds of people showing up to our trainings, mobilizations, and more.

Keep going. Tyranny is eroded by a sea of small acts. Everything matters.
