An Oregon pilot program giving cash to homeless youths sees a staggering reduction in homelessness. The program gave participants $1,000 cash payments each month for two years, and at the end of the project's first phase, 91% of participants reported being in stable housing.

Finding a friendship across time and space that you felt an emotional connection with is so rare. I wish I could have met you, seen the home of your Cornish ghost stories, tried your sticky English toffees. No insipid crush obsession was too much for you to hear

I miss you, @chaoticauthor.online

Whoops. I am talking about my crush more on main because I used to vent about him to my friend who passed of pancreatic cancer, who was the only one who understood. I am sorry. It really is a very boring story that I am still obsessed with

My current crush doesn't listen to music, but the only reason why that wasn't a turnoff was because he played trumpet in high school and his mom was a classical pianist. Still. Does not compute! Doesn't matter what kind of music you listen to, listen to something!
We all know that hippies love their hippie music. Anything from Buffalo Springfield to Schpongle, they love it. But we all love music. Literally everyone is into some sort of audio choreography. But my weird hippie neighbor is not that way. I can play Grateful Dead and she's like, "Who's this?"

I noticed in the 90s and '00s, as the internet shortened the metaphorical distance between different countries' then-unique video games cultures, that while my (British) friends and I would say we'd "finished" or "completed" a game, Americans on forums would always say they'd "beat" a game. 1/2

Used to think my work friend was terrible with boundaries, but I'd always knock on his door when he wasn't on the phone and often feel like I was bothering him. Then he started opening his door when he was open to chatting and I felt reassured, even if it wasn't constant. Someone learned boundaries

Bluesky is the platform I yap the most on, so I suppose this is the place where you find me the most annoying or the most charming depending on what you think of me. Oh well. I know I'm not everyone's cup of tea, and that is quite all right. My people pleasing days are over

I kind of miss movie rental stores. If there was a ten year old movie that I wanted to watch, chances are it would still be on the shelves of a Blockbuster, etc.
There is no legal way to stream the movie I've been looking for because it's been delisted from Canadian streaming sites.

cw: weight

I have been struggling with perimenopausal/comfort eating weight gain. I haven't been doing much about it, no exercise, have IBS, just portion control. I weigh myself every week. 2 weeks ago I was 180 lbs. Tonight I was 171 lbs. Whaaat. Middle age makes no sense

I was going to see a movie this week but I have decided instead to go to a local concert. Prog-rock group Stick Men is touring to the Whiteside on Thursday before they head to Portland. Seeing a local concert by myself isn't as scary as dealing with PDX parking! New Year goal: More concerts!!
