Hi, y'all.

A lot of you followed me tonight because @blueheronfarm.bsky.social reskeeted my post.

A few things to know.

1) most of my posts are cars, dogs, or food.
2) most of my RePosts are politics.
3) I know one hell of a lot about 1 and 2, might hold degrees in some of them.

Welcome on board
I've been living on the periphery of the government telling me to get fucked and die for over a decade.

I'd have to worry about it less under a single payer system.
My cancer treatment was billed to my insurance at around $600k, 12 years ago, with no chemo. I was $7.5k out of pocket.

Now I'd have an existing condition and be literally uninsurable.
I'm smelling Revolution in the air tonight, friends.

Never forget the 8 dems who made it happen.

For all the wrong reasons.

Listening to "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" on the auspicious day.

If you grew up around the Great Lakes, you know. I grew up a block from Lake Michigan.

After yesterday’s surrender, we’re launching the largest Democratic primary program that we’ve ever run.

We will not back any Senate primary candidate unless they call for Schumer to step down as Minority Leader.

If you’re as pissed as we are, join this campaign to rebuild the Democratic Party. 👇
Democratic leaders have failed us again. It's time to get new leaders.
After yet another capitulation by Chuck Schumer and Senate Democrats, it's clear we need new leadership capable of mounting a serious opposition to Trump's authoritarian regime. We're launching our la...

You should probably just go ahead and read this thread if you want to know anything about where your food comes from.
California alone produces a third of all the food America eats. So this is a lie.

But let’s break down the food produced by the red states:

Guess what percent is harvested by people from Latin America?

Red states produce the bulk of our meat, true—though California still produces 8% of American beef.

But the red states’ role as America’s breadbasket is LONG gone. Most red state agro-economy has been redirected from human-grade food to commodity feedstock.

And much of that is on federal welfare.
It goes even deeper than this. The vast bulk of red state agriculture is corn, soybeans or seed crops.

And most of it is not for US human consumption! We export 20% of our corn, half of our soybean and seeds. The rest?

Most of it becomes oil, animal feed or….ETHANOL.

The subsidized fuel additive.
Half the fruits and vegetables in the US come from California, 75% of the nuts. The flyover states like to pretend they do much

I wrote here about Trump’s limited understanding of health insurance and how relying on direct payments to people for payment toward health care costs is a terrible idea. www.msnbc.com/opinion/msnb...

there's literally a world famous person who is alleged to have murdered a health insurance executive because he was forced to do this.

and he was, broadly speaking, in this guy's ideological orbit!
Trump: "I want the money to go into an account for people where they buy their own health insurance. It's so good. The insurance will be better. It'll cost less. Everybody is gonna be happy. They're gonna feel like entrepreneurs. They're actually able to go out & negotiate their own insurance"

Dude you’ve all just shown us Democratic Senators are INCAPABLE of fighting united. Your constituents are doing their parts and for what? To watch their party fold like cowards. Change leadership or watch the coffers run dry.
The sooner we get past internal recriminations and back to fighting united, the better off we all are — the likelier our victory next November.

Insurance operates via risk pools to smooth out the cost of providing coverage. An individual "negotiating" with an insurance company will be assumed to be high risk, and premiums will be astronomically high. The reason why the marketplaces exist is to create risk pools that smooth out premium costs

If the last white dude he talked to had told him the real way to go was to just trash Obamacare and pay medical providers directly and people could just go get free healthcare, he’d have repeated a plan for single payer universal healthcare on national tv.

Whoa -- Sen. Durbin went to up Leader Thune during the vote last night to tell him that on the shutdown vote and ACA promise that "8 of us are sticking our neck out that you're going to keep your word. I hope you will. He said 'I assure you I will,'" Durbin says just now

Hahahahahahaha. We gave up the only leverage we had. Bet on it. The Republican bloc won't give with width of a pubic hair on this issue and they'll get the press to both sides it.
1. We need to fight hard for a good ACA extension early in December and hold Republicans fiercely accountable if they betray everyone.
