This is an accidentally honest answer. What she's saying in code is:
"The President is a misogynist, petulant bully. You've all seen him be a misogynist, petulant bully. And lots of voters out there are also misogynist or petulant or bullies and that's why they like him."
Q: What did the president mean when he called a reporter "piggy"?

LEAVITT: Look, the president is very frank & honest with everyone in this room. You'll all seen it yourself. You've all experienced it yourselves. And I think it's one of the many reasons the American people reelected this president

"The study [...] analyzed the health-care systems of 25 member countries of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). The results conclude that countries that allow greater private sector involvement in healthcare achieve poorer results on seven mortality indicators."
Experts concerned that privatization of health care could increase mortality rates
Experts are concerned about the direction Quebec is taking by increasingly turning to the private sector to provide care to the population (care that is often publicly funded).

re: waking Merlin, I have ver mixed feelings ever since reading @levgrossman.com 's The Bright Sword.
I'm a very logical and rational person, yet somehow a little voice in my head still whispers "I hope this wakes up Merlin from his slumber so he can fix the world." when I read things like this:

Marlborough College has been given the go-ahead to remove 20th Century buildings from the mound.

Dr. Bogoch is a regular on CBC Radio, and I look forward to hearing more of his presentations in the winter virus season.
More data outlining how COVID vaccines reduce the risk of hospitalizations & death, especially among those aged 65 and older.

This aligns nicely with recommendations from Canada's National Advisory Committee on Immunization. 🇨🇦

This was definitely a factor in why ginkgo trees in urban areas are overwhelmingly male. People complained about the smell of the fallen fruit. (In my hometown, you had to go to the cemetery or the botanical garden to see a female ginkgo. Or Aberdeen Avenue.)

I've said in the past that I don't write for skimmers. If you skip past something and get confused, well Mr. Policeman, I gave you all the words.

So I'm certainly not going to write for scrapers and summarizers either 🤷‍♀️
Saw a post today that advised writers to stop writing as if a human will read it and start writing for an LLM that will be summarising.

As someone who really enjoyed trying to develop a peculiar but readable authorial voice, I find this incredibly depressing.

Bill Cassidy claimed he received assurances that the “CDC will not remove statements on their website pointing out that vaccines do not cause autism,” when justifying his vote to confirm RFK Jr lol

How awful. This is outright health disinformation, lying to the American people. Not only is there massive evidence showing no link between vaccines & autism, there’s not even a plausible mechanism based on what we’ve learned about the genetics of autism, some environmental exposures in pregnancy
HEADS UP: CDC website now officially asserts that vaccines may cause autism.“Studies supporting a link have been ignored by health authorities.” Also says the “vaccines do not cause autism” header remains b/c of an agreement with Cassidy.

There is a phishing attempt going through @bsky.app DMs.
Please mind your opsec.
If @safety.bsky.app @support.bsky.team have issues with your account, you should receive an email from them as opposed to a random DM.
Stay frosty.
So, I feel a little dumb for asking, but this is phishing, yes?

People grabbing random packages like this always make me wonder -- there's a chance they'll get something valuable, but looking at my purchases this week, they could end up with a Magnetic Hill souvenir thimble, a 2011 Super Bowl embroidered patch, or a bosun whistle. Hardly seems worth it.

For almost half a century, I thought that the cheese depicted in Asterix in Corsica was an exaggeration for comedic effect, with the worms jumping out of it. Turns out it's based on a real item (from Sardinia though). Looks like something RFK Jr. would be nibbling on over the holidays!

just a lil' reminder that the future of AI and by extension much of silicon valley and the global economy is predicated on them building God

and something tells me that "building God" may not be coming along at the brisk clip that they would like
