Today I work in commercial pipefitting, and keeping an eye on construction indicators. There are some bad ones as cuts to research and university funding eat into client side funding, but tariffs have added sticker shock to projects. Six months ago, 6" S10 stainless pipe was $13/ft. Now it's $30/ft.

Brunswijk, 18 april 1806.

Transpacific trade is already seizing up because of the tariffs.

Three weeks ago, about 60,000 TEU (a measure of container volume) were scheduled to be "blanked" from April 16-May 10 (cancelled voyages/stops at a port). Now the figure is *367,800*

okay but for real: how does OpenAI, as an entity, make it to Spring 2026? They only got $10bn of funding until the end of the year, they’re running out of compute, they need to become a for-profit by EoY or they lose $10bn from the remaining $30bn funding, if it even arrives…
A US federal judge decides Elon Musk's lawsuit against OpenAI will go to a jury trial in spring 2026; Musk and OpenAI agreed to fast-track the trial last month (Anna Tong/Reuters)
